Central and North Florida Non-Dormant Bermudagrass Long, cool springs can affect turfgrass growth in this region, though spring and fall tend to remain temperate. While turfgrass does not go dormant in winter, temperatures can dip below the 55-degree growing temperature for bermudagrass. Winter is considered the dry season, but unexpected weeks of clouds and rain sometimes occur. Summer months are humid, and the tropical season in late July and August can be wet and very cloudy for weeks at a time.
