Do you see the resistance to DEI in some sectors affecting progress for women in the workplace, or is this just a passing phase? While there is some resistance to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts in certain sectors, DEI are essential for organisational success, driving innovation, better decision-making and stronger business outcomes. Organisations that prioritise DEI benefit from higher employee engagement, improved problem-solving and increased profitability, as diverse teams bring a broader range of perspectives and ideas. Inclusive workplaces attract and retain top talent, fostering a culture where individuals feel valued, empowered, and motivated to contribute their best work.

What advice would you give a new female entrant to the industry? Embrace your authentic self—your strengths, values and unique perspective will be your greatest assets. Seek out mentors and allies; a strong support network is invaluable in navigating challenges and unlocking new opportunities. Adopt a learning mindset, viewing imposter syndrome not as a setback, but a sign of growth. The tech industry is vast and varied —explore different paths to find what motivates you. Advocate for yourself—speak up, take on new challenges, showcase your achievements. By staying true to who you are, continuously learning and surrounding yourself with supportive peers, you will find your place and thrive.

I navigate the challenges of my career. Authenticity to me means recognising and embracing all aspects of my identity, including the moments of self-doubt and imposter syndrome we all experience. It’s okay to not always feel confident - what’s important is how I address it; I seek support and guidance from those around me - my mentor, career coach, peers, family. They provide honest feedback and the encouragement I need. With my authentic self, I bring unique perspectives and strengths to the table, which differentiate me in a competitive field. I believe when you are true to yourself, you are more likely to find a workplace culture that aligns with your values and supports your growth. So, embrace who you are, seek out a supportive network and let your true self shine! Where will we see you in 5 years’ time?
