These innovations help protect your body, reduce wear and tear, and enhance your day-to-day experience. REDEFINING RETENTION: 96% AND RISING With a 96% year-over-year team retention rate, High Prairie Outdoors far surpasses the landscape industry average of just 60% . This isn’t a coincidence—it’s a reflection of a culture built on respect, opportunity, and purpose . While high turnover plagues much of the industry, our team members choose to stay and grow with us because they feel valued, supported, and part of something bigger. From unmatched benefits to transparent coaching and leadership development, we’ve built a company where people can thrive. This extraordinary retention rate proves that we’re not only elevating our team—we’re raising the standard for what’s possible in our industry.

HIGH PRAIRIE’S HISTORY Our story is a classic ‘ David versus Goliath ’ tale steeped in the passion of our exceptional team members who deserve all the credit for the reputation we’ve garnered today. We started with nothing, no referral partners, and builders laughing our founder out of their office because we weren’t part of the ‘ good old boys club ’. Today, we’re pursued as the preferred choice for finely designed, crafted, and nourished outdoor spaces for discerning homeowners.

Robyn Schmitz Founded the Company after witnessing corner-cutting contractors and poor treatment of landscape employees. The organization was founded to do better. With no money, she began designing and installing landscapes.

The First Team Members Joined

Our first three team members were hired as the foundation to our hardscape and landscape maintenance divisions. They’re still with us today! High Prairie Becomes KC’s First National Award Winner for Luxury Residential Design/Build We won two national awards for our work chosen by an independent panel as the best work in US and Canada. (We’ve since won more!) An Alfresco Lifestyle Brand Emerges

A comprehensive organization for all things fine gardening, swimming pools, and outdoor living, We lead the way with our proprietary Legacy Program. How are we different? We don’t rely on subcontractors. We self perform everything from design, to pool building, to hardscapes. Less than 5% of our scope requires other businesses.

HP Pros: Year-Round, Local Professionals, Elite Teams Higher Standards and Exclusive Products for Clients A Proven Process: The Legacy Program

Nurturing Professional Team Members We’re dedicated to helping our team members grow as professionals where they feel empowered, educated, and like their career has meaning. Elevating Standards Bolster design and quality standards to raise the bar for the entire industry while offering clients a space engineered to last beautifully. Protecting Consumers We challenge the common corner-cutting practices happening within our industry by raising our standards and educating others. While others may be cheap, their quality doesn’t endure. WE RESOLVE THOSE ISSUES BY: Our organization was founded after witnessing three key issues in our market: corner-cutting contractors (even at the big places), mediocre outdoor design, and companies treating employees poorly.

By Solving These Problems, We Aim to be the Best Outdoor Living Company in Our Region. What’s the Best? Growing. Profitable. Unmatched Quality. Expert Team Members. Healthy Culture.

INCREASE YOUR INCOME We want you to succeed and we’re passionate about finding ways to create win/win scenarios for our team. YOU are in charge of your career and we provide ample opportunity for growth. It’s up to you to determine what you do with those opportunities!

Skills

Our positions and pay scale are based on a skill-based matrix where raises and bonuses are determined by learning new skills associated with the next level of career progression. If you’d like to keep learning and growing simply study the matrix and identify which skills you need in order to get that next bump up! Once you identify your next steps, be sure to remind your leaders of what you need to learn. The more responsibility you take for your career path, the more quickly you go!

Certifications

We value learning and education. Anyone at High Prairie can engage in additional training and learning programs at any time. We have several pre-determined courses and certifications with the associated value of those certifications if you pass. In addition, you are encouraged to find courses related to your role that would help grow you. If you find something that would benefit both you and the company, share it with the HR team and we’ll determine how we can reward you for your efforts. High Prairie both offers incentives for getting certifications and pays for several types of courses/trainings for those who are driven enough to request those opportunities. It is up to you to choose if you’d like to take further courses or certifications. Bring your ideas to your manager! If it’s related, we’ll pay you for it! The quickest way to increase your income is to capitalize on the opportunity of more hours during the busy part of the year. We’ve learning that the most common issue for people struggling with their income is their attendance. The average install team members work 1900 to 2000 regular hours a year and 200 to 300 overtime hours. The average maintenance team members work 1800 regular hours a year and 160 overtime hours. (There is more opportunity here!)
