Through expectant looking, I become more aware of the dist inct melody of each tree, react ing wi th empathy and del ight towards what is around me. Paint and clay allow me to look and respond in complementary actions to the diverse colors and intricate textures of the trees. I paint outside, bringing the tree portrait inside to be contem- plated. I sculpt and graft in prosthetic branches for trees with severed limbs, an indoor process returned outdoors, inviting wonder.
