Melanoma Screening... ...continued from page 25

able area. Early detection and treatment can significantly increase the chances of successful outcomes for those with skin cancer. Safety Tips for Skin Health In addition to regular screenings, there are simple steps you can take to protect yourself from developing skin cancer. These include: ● Limiting your exposure to the sun, especially during peak hours when the sun’s rays are strongest. ● Wearing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50+, and reapply - ing it every two hours. ● Wearing protective clothing, such as wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts, and rash guards and/or swim shirts when in the water. ● Avoiding tanning beds and sun lamps, as they can also in - crease your risk of developing skin cancer. Special Note for Older Adults Melanoma is more likely to develop in older adults, as they have been exposed to the sun for a longer period of time. Caucasian men over the age of 50 are at the highest risk. Unfortunately, many old - er individuals are unaware of the benefits of getting a skin check and often skip this important screening. They may not realize a simple checkup could save their lives by detecting skin cancer early and when it is most treatable. If you have parents or grandparents who fall into this high-risk category, it is important to encourage them to schedule a skin check with their dermatologist as part of their healthcare routine. By raising awareness and stressing the importance of early detection, you could potentially help them avoid a life-threatening diagnosis. Remember, your skin is your body’s largest organ, deserving of ut- most care and attention. By prioritizing skin health, embracing sun safety practices, and scheduling regular skin cancer screenings, we can reduce the risk of skin cancer and enjoy happier, healthier sum- mers for years to come. Let’s make melanoma awareness a year-round commitment, ensuring our skin stays protected and radiant in every season. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and embrace the sunshine responsibly. Eric Weinstein It’s Not Therapy (It’s Problem Solving)

Did you know that: • Licensed therapists are limited to certain approaches by “standards of care” that leave out a number of highly effective healing and personal growth modalities? • Even if you’re paying out-of-pocket for your sessions, your therapist might be unable to use anything “different” because of insurance company requirements and state regulations? I’m not a therapist, but I always have a therapist or two among my clients. They come to me for: • the most ancient healing modality (shamanic healing) • proven, but less conventional modalities (hypnosis/ NLP [Neurolinguistic Programming] and Eye Movement Integration [similar to EMDR, but gentler]) • the most exciting new energy modalities (Energy Psychology, such as EFT or “tapping” on meridian points, biofield work, and chakra manipulation) • Voice dialogue (which one therapist referred to as “Internal Family Systems on steroids”) • intriguing coaching modalities (including True Purpose coaching and Archetypal coaching) And they come for all the same problems they might see a conventional therapist for – as well as problems and questions of a spiritual/energetic nature. So, whether you’ve gotten what you can from talk therapy, want action-oriented approaches, or want a holistic body/ mind/spirit approach, why wait to find out how your life can be better?
