Introducing Angie Every day, we have the honor of helping patients achieve healthy, “My mom … she was so mad!” Angie recalls. Meet Our Newest Dental Hygienist

beautiful smiles. Every patient’s needs are unique, and each day is different from the next. But our goal is always the same: to help patients find anxiety- free dental solutions that fit their lifestyle and improve their dental health. That focus on healing and oral health is a foundational principle of Caring Modern Dentistry. None of this would be possible without the team of dentists, dental hygienists, and office employees who work tirelessly for our patients at Caring Modern Dentistry. And when it’s time to grow our team, the anticipation of welcoming a new member is always exciting, especially when we find the right fit.

Angie was always a steadfast dental patient and knew she had to seek care after her fall. It was while she was waiting at her local dental practice that Angie saw a pamphlet discussing potential careers in dentistry. While art was something she enjoyed, something suddenly clicked for her. She had always enjoyed going to the dentist, so much so that she was always curious about the tools and procedures during each visit. Suddenly, she saw a career opportunity in an industry that piqued her interest.

patients as well. She explained that it’s the patients who motivate her — she offers a supportive voice and calming experience for patients who are nervous during their appointments. Angie’s goal is to educate her patients to help alleviate any anxiety they may feel. Outside the office, Angie is the proud human mom of three cats and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Recently, Angie fell in love with hiking, so you can often spot her on local trails and doing pretty much anything outdoors. If you haven’t already, please join me in welcoming Angie to the practice. I know patients will find her kind and thorough, continuing the mission of Caring Modern Dentistry. Welcome, Angie! -Dr. Adams

“That was kind of the start of it all,” Angie said.

Angie brings that same curiosity, as well as experience, to the work she does at Caring Modern Dentistry. She has seamlessly fit in with our team, and her willingness to work with our team makes her invaluable to the work we do. “I just had a feeling,” Angie said. “Everybody works as a team, and that was extremely refreshing for me … As soon as I asked for help, it was there.” Angie’s experience with dental care and her passion for the industry make her a great advocate for her

That’s exactly what happened with our newest dental hygienist, Angie.

Angie has been a member of the Caring Modern Dentistry team since January 2024. She brings with her nearly 23 years of dental hygiene experience, after starting her career in a unique way. When Angie first graduated from high school, she wanted to be an art teacher. While attending a small art school to follow her dreams, Angie fell and broke her two front teeth.

Hosting the Ultimate Outdoor Movie Night MOONLIT MOVIE MAGIC

Whether it’s blocking pucks during a street hockey game or checkmating chess hustlers at the park, traditionally indoor activities take on an entirely new feel and flavor when taken outside. While a rare sight these days, movie-goers worldwide used to enjoy cinema from the comfort of their cars at drive-in theaters. These made a brief resurgence during the pandemic, but now that movies are rolling in theaters again, the fad has begun to die off.

make for a great cinematic experience. Debtrette, a TikTok influencer and mom, has a suggestion. She put a spin on an old classic — family movie night — by holding it in her backyard with all the conveniences you would expect at a movie theater — like an air mattress, pillows, and blankets! If you are looking for a fun way to spruce up a traditional movie night, what better way than to bring it outside under the stars? Here are some necessities to make your moonlight movie night truly magical: • A portable projector screen, like a sheet on a clothesline • Portable movie projector • Candy, popcorn, and beverages • Some outdoor seating and cushions • Lamps, lanterns, or candles • Warm blankets • The perfect movie to bring it all together You can find screens and projectors to fit any budget, and your movie selection will depend on the crowd. Just make it fun: Lie back on the grass and watch “Antz” or lounge in the pool while watching “Jaws”! The key is to make the experience unforgettable, and all who share in it will be thankful for your effort to make it all possible.

These days, if you want to watch a movie, it seems like you are limited to three options: Watching it at the theater, on your TV, or on your phone or tablet. Now, I think we can all agree that watching a movie outside on your phone does not

“Best dentist visit ever! I recently had an appointment with Dr. Hodges. She is by far the best dentist I have ever seen. A very thorough exam and explained every step of the procedure. It is obvious she cares and treated me like a person and not just a patient. Her assistant Grace is equally amazing. Grace is both personable and professional. They make a great team! I genuinely enjoyed my visit with them and look forward to seeing them again!” –LARRY T. “I was experiencing a lot of pain from a broken tooth. I had no appointment but was seen the same day. The staff and dental team were so kind and went above and beyond to make sure I received the best care possible! Thanks again for all you do for your patients!” –SANDRA V. “Dr Laura Hodges is awesome!! The whole team there at Caring Modern Dentistry makes you feel welcome and like family. They really care. If you need dental care, go see them. They are wonderful.” –LORI S. OUR PATIENTS SAY IT BEST!

A Sign of Something Serious? Here’s When to Call Us About a Toothache

WHEN TO GIVE US A CALL Persistent Pain: If your toothache lasts more than a day or two, it’s time to call us. Persistent pain is a sign that the tooth may require professional attention. Severe Discomfort: If the pain is severe and possibly causing headaches or is accompanied by a fever, this may be an indication of an infection. Injury: If your toothache is the result of a physical injury, please seek immediate care to ensure there are no fractures or major damage that can worsen over time. Swelling: Swollen gums or swelling around your face are red flags that need urgent dental care. Unusual Symptoms: If you experience an earache, jaw pain, or pain when opening your mouth wide, these could all be linked to dental problems. Don’t let tooth pain disrupt your life — give us a call at the first sign of discomfort. Remember, early intervention can potentially prevent more serious problems down the road!

Coping with a toothache can be one of the worst experiences of your life. However, beyond the discomfort, a toothache may indicate something is wrong. At Caring Modern Dentistry, we understand how painful and distracting tooth pain can be. Let’s take a look at the various causes of toothaches and when to give our office a call! COMMON CAUSES OF TOOTH PAIN Tooth Decay: The most common culprit behind a toothache is tooth decay. When decay penetrates the outer enamel and dentin of the tooth, it can reach the nerve and lead to lots of pain. Abscess: An abscessed tooth, an infection at the root of the tooth or between the gum and a tooth, can cause severe pain and swelling. It’s important to note that this dental

emergency can lead to more serious health issues if not treated promptly.

Tooth Fracture: A cracked or broken tooth resulting from an injury or biting down on something hard can also lead to a toothache.

Damaged Fillings and Dental Work: Over time, fillings and other dental work can become damaged and expose sensitive parts of your tooth to temperatures and food particles, leading to pain.

Gum Disease: Gum infections can also cause tooth pain and may be accompanied by bleeding, swelling, and a constant bad taste in the mouth. Tooth Eruption: This could cause significant pain. This is common in young children but also occurs in adults as wisdom teeth emerge through gums.

JENGA GIANT This is the classic game of Jenga made giant ! In Jenga Giant, two players take turns pulling wood blocks from a tower standing about 5 feet tall. Over time, the blocks become crucial to the tower’s integrity, and each pull is a gravity-defying feat. If your pull causes the tower to collapse, you are out, and your opponent has to yell “Jenga!” at the top of their lungs.
