TEAM NOTES
SERVICE, GROWTH AND GOOD WORKS FROM GARY SASSER
One of the things I know for sure about our team is that we have associates who are committed to helping others. You’ve made that abundantly clear with your Team Up Community Challenge efforts, and I'm proud to see how that has grown through the years. What we now know as the Team Up Community Challenge began in 2011 as a way to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Since that time, you’ve found an untold number of ways to lift up the communities we serve. Last year alone, you nearly doubled the total hours of community service that you completed in 2023. It was also exciting to see us engage our customers even more with last year’s projects. They see the impact we’re making together, and as a result, they’re getting involved. I’m excited to see what the future
holds for these types of partnerships. Those successes all go back to the type of people we have at Averitt. We are forged together as one to help others in need. And your efforts continue to be a win-win, because those hours are counted as part of our annual matching contribution to support the good works of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I’ve already seen some of the unique ways you’re serving in 2025. I’m confident you’ll continue finding many more opportunities to make a difference throughout the year, and I look forward to seeing us build on our culture of teamwork and showing what it means to be part of the Averitt team! OUR TEAM PROUD TO GIVE NEARLY $2 MILLION Donation To St. Jude
$ 1,200,001
Associate Sharing is something we strongly believe in, and thanks to your participation in Averitt Cares for Kids, we made a record donation of $1,750,001 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! This marks the fifth straight year our donation has increased, showing our long-standing partnership. In fact, since 1990, we’ve contributed more than $14 million to support the good works of St. Jude. And as has been our tradition for several years, the extra $1 signifies The Power of One dollar a week and how all of us can make a difference for the greater good. Several factors helped us achieve our most recent donation to St. Jude. First, more than 96% of associates are members of Averitt Cares for Kids, giving just one dollar through weekly payroll deductions. Second, the company continues to make matching contributions in honor of Team Up Community Challenge hours, as well as associate achievements, life events and milestones. In 2024, the total matching contribution was $1,250,000! “Every year, we find a way to make an even greater impact for the children of St. Jude,” says GARY SASSER . “This donation will help St. Jude continue its battle against childhood cancers, and I’m proud of the way our associates support that life-saving care.” Want to learn more about the important mission of Averitt Cares for Kids? WIDE OPEN SPACES
Dothan Celebrates Opening Of New, Expanded Facility
The dock doors have increased from 12 to 33, we have about five times the dock space compared to the former facility, and Dothan associates now enjoy a much larger break room and at least twice the office space. Additionally, we’ve added a shower and a conference room, and there will soon be two fuel pumps – the previous facility had none. We’ve also enhanced security in Dothan, with electronic gates for associates and the yard, an electrified fence and a state-of-the-art camera system. “There’s nothing more exciting to me than to see their pride in the ownership,” Dothan Service Center Director ALAN JIMMERSON says of his team. “They’re really excited about the facility. They know we have a space to grow in that we didn’t have before. The general response I’ve gotten from everybody is, ‘Man, this is really nice. They must really appreciate us because they did this right.’ I tell them, ‘Yes, Averitt has a lot of faith in the Dothan facility, and they wanted to make it nice for us.’” FIRSTHAND LOOK Region 3 Vice President of Operations DAVID MCGONAGILL and Region 3 Vice President of Sales MATT SMITH got a firsthand look at the appreciation during the facility's first week of operation and our grand opening festivities in January. Dothan features 36 associates, and nearly 150 people attended the family day cookout. “You could see the swagger in their walk when they came across the parking lot that first week we were up and operating,” David recalls. “You could tell they were very appreciative. They’re very thankful to have what they have to work out of.” Matt adds, “Having been in the previous building for 36 years, they were definitely ready for this. I could see the excitement and the smiles. The grand opening was definitely an eye-opener for how positive our associates are for the building.” The words “excitement” and “appreciative” are common among our Dothan associates these days, and there’s a good reason. We recently celebrated the grand opening of a new facility there, and the benefits are obvious.
BUILT FOR THE FUTURE With more space to operate, great things are around the corner in southeast Alabama. “I think the biggest impact is we’re now able to grow our business,” Alan explains. “Before, we had a really small dock. When we got busy, we were way over capacity. Now, we have plenty of space to do the things that we had to turn down in the past because we just didn’t have the space. So we’ll be going after some business.” To that end, Matt says we have customers who are now interested in transloading services over the dock in Dothan out of Port Panama City. “Not many people think about Panama City Beach having much port activity, but there is a pretty good-sized port there,” Matt explains. “And this new dock could help us tap into that. I do think it will allow us to have growth and expansion in that market.” Additionally, our new security features have caught the eye of one of our customers, Swedish Match. “Swedish Match is very interested in coming to see all our security features,” Alan says. “They want to make sure the carriers they’re doing business with are up to speed with security, and I think this will very much play in our favor.” David points out that the brand-new facility will have another long-term effect – attracting more high-quality associates. “We’re even more visible now,” he says. “We’ve had a lot of people express how much it means for them to have what we have in the community. We’re extremely proud of it. We feel that as we continue to grow, it’s going to attract a lot of good people our way.” A FAMILIAR QUOTE David, Matt and Alan are proud of what our team was able to accomplish that created the need for a new service center. But they’re also eagerly looking toward the future. “To quote Mr. Sasser, we’re proud of our past and very excited about our future,” Alan says. “Our new facility will allow us to be more productive and grow our business. Things are looking really bright in Dothan, Alabama.” "That’s all we want to do is grow, baby, grow,” Matt adds with a laugh. T m Dothan associates recently celebrated the grand opening of their new service center with a family day cookout and tour of the new facility. The service center features greatly increased dock doors and dock space, a much larger break room and at least twice the office space.

WARRIORS WANTED The Power of Referrals
Jett’s journey to professional driving started in a grocery warehouse. Like many others, he put in the time and effort to gain the experience needed to break into the industry. For him, driving was more than just a career – it was a family tradition. “My dad was a cattle hauler. He was always on the road, and I wanted to stay more local, but growing up... I guess I hit the jackpot, and I ended up being a driver like my dad. I enjoy it. Even though it might not be for everybody, it's for me.” THE LEGEND OF THE REFERRALS One of Jett’s first referrals was a former co-worker, DAVID LOPEZ , from a warehouse job. When David’s company shut down, Jett knew he had the perfect candidate. “He was a single father with three girls, so I immediately reached out to him,” Jett recalls. “I told him everything about Averitt – the benefits, the stability. I knew he was a hard-working guy who wouldn’t let me down.” Now, David currently works as a city driver for our Tampa service center. For Tampa city driver JETT LOPEZ MUELLER, being part of the Averitt team was a goal he worked hard to achieve, and now he’s paying it forward by bringing in associates who share the same drive and resilience.
Tampa city driver JETT LOPEZ MUELLER has experienced great success in referring former co- workers, acquaintances, people he meets and even former customers.
BUILDING A STRONGER TEAM Jett’s ability to recognize potential isn’t limited to his close friends. He’s recruited acquaintances, people he’s met in passing, and even former customers. His friendly and outgoing nature makes it easy to connect with people and see if they have what it takes. “I make a lot of friends, just because of my personality. I could talk to a squirrel,” Jett jokes. “I don’t let days stress me out. I just keep moving forward.” PEOPLE LIKE YOU Jett’s story is a testament to the power of our People Like You referral program. He takes pride in helping bring ambitious, driven people into the Averitt family. If you know someone who has the drive, determination and mindset to succeed, now is the time to refer them. Looking to follow in Jett's footsteps and refer like-minded people to our team? Miami Associates Share The Love with Sheridan House For years, our Miami team has built a strong relationship with Sheridan House Ministries. In 2024, they continued their tradition of service with even greater participation and energy. The group’s connection with Sheridan House goes back several years, with events like the annual Thanksgiving Blessings food drive, Christmas Bazaar, and back-to-school supply collection becoming staples on its calendar. Last year, Miami associates and their families came together in their largest turnout yet, with volunteers showing up to load groceries, offer support and share a little hope with families in need. “We love working with Sheridan House,” says transportation specialist BARBARA MESSINA . “It’s a tradition for us. Every time we volunteer, it puts things into perspective – it’s about more than just the holidays; it’s about helping others in their moment of need.” The event was especially meaningful for another transportation specialist, MARC PRIMACK , who attended alongside his family for the first time. “He had never experienced anything like this before,” Barbara shares. “His wife was so excited and immediately said, ‘I want to do more!’ That’s what makes this event so special – it brings us closer as a team and inspires others to get involved.” One particularly touching moment came when an associate brought her BUILDING COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Years ago, she had been part of a Sheridan House program, making the opportunity to give back all the more meaningful. “It was emotional to see her connect with the young mothers we were helping,” Barbara says. “It really opened her eyes to how impactful these events are.” By partnering with organizations like Sheridan House, the Miami team continues to prove that when we come together as one family, we can make a real difference in the communities we serve. FROM CINCY TO SPACE CITY
FORK(LIFT) IN THE ROAD Carriena began her Averitt career in early 2023 as a dock associate in Cincinnati. She was looking for a stable company after her previous employer closed down. “When the pandemic happened, they kept laying us off and bringing us back,” Carriena recalls of her former job. “Then they completely closed down for good and went back overseas.” Carriena already had forklift experience, but she also wanted to get in the driver’s seat of her career. After talking with Service Center Director DARRELL MCCOMAS about our Dock-To-Driver Training Program, she completed it and was impressed with the experience. “My trainer was a great guy, and he told me I was a natural as a driver,” she says. “I told Darrell I wanted to move up, and he told me about different opportunities that Averitt has.” HELLO, HOUSTON Because Carriena has family in the Houston area, she wanted to move there and stay with our team. She got further encouragement during training at our Driver Development Center in Cookeville, as several of our Truckload drivers gave her more information about our service center there. “When I came to Tennessee, I met other over-the-road drivers from different places, and they all had good things to say,” Carriena explains. “They said, ‘You’ll love it down there.’ I wanted to see if the environment was the same at a different facility.” So in late 2023, she transferred to Houston and worked as a CDL-A qualified Houston Associate Takes Advantage Of Dock-To-Driver Training Program Something we take pride in is our ability to offer unique career opportunities that fit whatever stage of life you’re in. One example is Houston city driver CARRIENA BELL, who has taken advantage of our Dock-To-Driver Training Program and transferred within our network.
Houston city driver CARRIENA BELL completed our Dock-To-Driver Training Program and transferred within our network to move closer to family.
dock associate. And late last year, Carriena moved into her new role as a city driver. Carriena is glad she took the leap of faith for her career, and she gives a lot of credit to SCOTT HARRIS , our former Houston Service Center Director who was recently promoted to Regional Vice President of Sales. “I’ve thanked Scott a lot because he gave me an opportunity,” she says. “He gave me a lot of good information when I was moving and helped me out because I didn’t know a lot about the area. I feel like Averitt hires the right people in leadership and has people who care. Whatever they need, I try to do. And that’s because I feel like Averitt has my back.” CULTURE IN ACTION Carriena says our family culture has proven to be the real deal throughout her time with Averitt. “Averitt doesn’t make me feel like a number. Some companies, you’re like No. 1402,” she says with a laugh. “My friend drives for a competitor, and she says she feels like just a number. When I tell her about things at Averitt, she says, ‘We don’t have that. It’s not the same.’” Carriena adds, “It’s more of a family feel at Averitt. Sometimes companies say they care about certain things, but you have to have actions behind it. From Darrell to Scott to my trainers and other leadership, they all talked with me about how long they’ve been with Averitt, how they started as drivers or in other roles. And they do what they say they’re going to do. Nobody has told me they’re going to help and then not come through.” Thank you, Carriena, for sharing your story with us, and we look forward to seeing what’s next in your Averitt career!
