About You

Terms of Appointment Salary for this role: • £77,425 - £107,174, Professorial Equivalent Band II. • This is a full time, open ended position.

You will be professionally qualified with a relevant degree/ postgraduate qualification and relevant and substantial leadership experience. You will possess substantial experience and proven success in the management of a strategically important, broad function/specialist area. You will have a proven track record of delivering significant improvements in a customer services environment. With high-level people skills, you will be adept at engaging with senior managers and highly qualified professionals, both internal and external. You will be experienced in contributing to change management programmes and will be able to deliver on several areas of work simultaneously. Desirable qualifications • Chartered professional qualification in recognised technical body such as IMechE, CIBSE, or IET. • A post-graduate level management or other professional qualification in occupational safety and health (such as NEBOSH). Experience • Expertise in building technology including LV/HV systems, water management, mechanical ventilation, heating and steam systems, fire alarms, and building control. • Proven experience in managing health & safety and risk including Safe Systems of Work within a complex estates environment, particularly the requirements of a planning and supervisory role. • Experience of providing technical advice/expertise on all engineering and maintenance matters, and adapting it to a changing environment. Leadership • Ability to lead a large, multi-disciplined team, providing clear direction, driving performance standards and ensuring equality, diversity and inclusivity. • Motivate, empower and coach a team of professional experts to deliver an excellent service in lin with the University’s values and a One University approach. Skill and attributes • Ability to explain complex information in a way that is meaningful to the receiver. • Ability to prioritise complex and multiple activities, managing team workloads to ensure delivery to cost, time and quality • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and key customers • Analytical skills to review current processes and deliver improvements and innovation in line with best practice. • Attention to detail to support informed decision making including appreciation of risk and cost-benefit analysis. • Ability to hold people to account.

Holidays: • A minimum of 41 days annual leave including bank holiday and closure days (pro rata) with the ability to purchase up to 10 days more of additional annual leave.
