The Department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is the largest Professional Services Department at the university, employing over 720 staff across a range of professions and specialist areas. Now is an exciting time to take up a leadership role within the department. Following my appointment as Director of Estates and Facilities Management in March 2024, EFM is entering a transformational period with further leadership appointments that will shape the team and culture for many years to come. There are exciting challenges ahead, with the development of a new estate strategy, significant capital investment, drive to net zero, asset management and space optimisation, engineering and maintenance delivery, and campus services provision. The Associate Director of EFM: Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for leading on the strategic direction and operational management of the estate maintenance and engineering

infrastructure across the university’s large-scale and complex estate portfolio, which serves as a crucial enabler to the realisation of the University’s Vision and Strategic Plan. The role delivers a customer centric, performance driven service that offers demonstrable best value, through a multidisciplinary in-house team consisting of circa 140 staff, as well as a diverse spectrum of contractor partners. We are seeking an individual with significant career experience in engineering leadership roles across large scale, operational property portfolios, together with a track record of planning and executing transformation programmes resulting in performance improvement in the areas of engineering, maintenance and estate compliance. If you would relish the chance to play an integral role delivering the vision of a world-class estate ito support the University’s world-class ambitions we would be delighted to hear from you.
