EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS • Higher degree or relevant professional qualification at post graduate level (qualifications below higher degree level will be considered if applicants demonstrate solid experience and evidence of continuing professional development) • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA • Evidence of continuous professional development EXPERIENCE • Proven and extensive experience in a similar role • Significant experience in procuring and managing the work of contractors and consultants • Significant experience in managing major construction projects from inception to completion • Successful record as a people manager within a construction related environment • Experience of managing significant project and devolved budgets including planning and allocation of resources • Proven project management experience (gained in commissioning and managing a range of major capital works) • Ability to think analytically • Excellent team working skills • Excellent organiser, able to resolve problems efficiently and effectively • High level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with others • Ability to develop business plans and generate action plans and reports to support operational activities • Ability to build and manage a successful operational team • Ability to work methodically and analytically • Good time management PERSONAL QUALITIES/DISPOSITION • High and demanding expectations of self and others in service delivery • Ability to work and deliver excellent results in a pressurised environment • Team player, able to work co-operatively with others • Discretion, tact and the ability to maintain confidentiality • Flexible approach- able to plan and deliver projects to achieve the business drivers within the organisation • Ability to organise and manage multiple projects through teamwork, effective planning and time management OTHER • Willing and able to travel between campuses • Willing to attend out of hours when needed and participate in call out rotas to cover holiday periods if required • Willing to undertake continued personal and professional development KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS • Numerate • Ability to meet tight deadlines

• Managing projects on dispersed sites • Previous experience gained in a HE environment • OJEU procurement
