THE KING’S BUSINESS

their particular functions to perform, so is there a diversity o f powers in the Church, the members o f which are the body of Christ. As all the members o f the physical body work together toward one end— namely, the welfare o f the whole body— so is it with the members o f the body of Christ: they have one object in view, and that the building up o f the body as a whole. France, some time since wrote to Secretary Brooks o f the Bible Institute Correspond ence Course, to the effect that he was very desirous o f better fitting himself for personal religious work, and would like to avail himself o f Superintendent Horton’s course on “ Personal Evangelism and Prac tical Work,” but was not able to pay for it. The matter came to the attention o f one o f our friends, who paid for the course for the wounded soldier. Our read ers will be interested in his acknowledge- ment: October 11, 1917. D ear M r . B rooks : O f course, I am very thankful to you and in particular to that kind Christian lady who took my letter to heart. My first impression was that I should not accept it, as I fear that, although quite true, my statement re my financial position should have remained a matter known only 'by God and not to be exposed to strangers as I actually did. Then I thought how many months I had felt like coming in contact with your Bible Institute, till at last I did, and see here the result! Since I continually ask God to guide me one step at the time, I may boldly claim that He had also kindly led things thus far as they have occurred. I certainly will do my very b‘est in studying this course. I must tell you, however, that I may not be quite --as quick or bright as ydu would expect me to be. As each member o f the human body imparts its quota o f life, strength, and power to the whole body, so must there be mutual impartation and helpfulness on the part of the various members o f the body o f Christ, it not being necessary, however, for each member to part with its' own individuality or surrender its particular function. diers. (2) I am a Belgium (Brussels) born man, therefore, on account o f my French education, may I not be as quick as British or American-born people. As a British subject now, having all my inter ests on this continent, being also the hus band o f an English-born wife, who by the way, has helped me a lot to come in closer touch with my Saviour, I feel it my happy duty to work for the Lord among these English-speaking people, as God will see fit to use me. May I be deemed fit to have that glorious privilege o f being used as a fisher o f men, following Him grate fully, who gave Himself for m e! Sincerely in Him, LEON J. ECKMAN. The following is an excerpt from a letter recently received by a member o f the Fish ermen’s Club from one with whom he dealt during the Billy Sunday Campaign recently conducted in Los Angeles: “ I am very sorry that I did not see you, or phone to you before I came back to Redlands, as I wished to thank you again. I have made up with my wife and everything is going to be all right, and with God’s help I am going to lead a good Christian life.” During the recent Christiaii Endeavor Convention held in Riverside, quite a large party o f Endeavorers were entertained, on their return trip, by the Bible Institute. One o f the party expresses his appreciation as follows: “May God bless the Fisher men’s Club. The quiet business-like way in which you work made me realize that it is a business, a real business, and a man’s business, to win souls for Christ.” ------— ------ — The Fishermen
