'T 'H E Oil Field’s work for the past I- month has consisted mostly o f real per sonal work on the McKittrick front, where the Standard Oil Company is doing an immense amount o f development work, employing hundreds o f men, and these we seek to reach with the Gospel o f God’s grace. W e have been visiting these camps one after another, and usually are received kindly by the men, and also by the offi cials, although a recent incident made us feel as though we were in Rome-cursed South America instead o f our own United States. Visiting a certain camp, we ran across a few professing Christians who welcomed and thanked us for coming, until a Gospel service was proposed, and then asked us not to hold it, stating that the superintendent was an Irish Catholic and belonged to a Romish secret order, and they were afraid that if he heard that they had permitted a Gospel service in their houses, they would be “let out.” No other place could be secured, so we had to forego the meeting, but have not given up that station by any means and intend to go back, trusting God will open the way for us to gain an entrance. W e gave out the Gospel personally to a good many men, and gave away some Testaments and Gospels o f John. Part o f last month we were absent in Southern Utah, having a little rest, and while there did some work among the Mor mon people, visiting quite a number o f towns and had many conversations on the

Gospel, i W e had the privilege o f praying for and with quite a few Mormon people. It was sad to see so many poor people who have been deceived by this delusion. They seemed glad to hear something out o f the W ord o f God. W e believe a great work can be done there. It is astonishing how very few o f them have any conception o f what the Gospel is, and the vast major ity know nothing o f the true God. We found a nice little assembly in the town o f Beryl, Utah, where our son is super intendent o f the Sunday School, and the last Sunday we were there we had an all-day meeting, and dinner in the little church. It was a happy time with some real saints. , After returning to the Oil Fields, we visited the Standard camp on Monarch Hill, where we buried an oil worker about nine months ago, and were very kindly wel comed. The people said no one had ever visited them until the Bible Institute sent us there. They enjoyed our little mes sage, and also some beautiful Gospel hymns which we played for them on the Victrola. The other evening at McKittrick we spoke on the 10th o f Luke. This little por tion o f God’s W ord seems so applicable to these fields. The poor fellows come out here where Satan has every attraction to lure from Christ. He is the great master robber; like Barrabas, who was chosen in place o f Christ, he is indeed a “ robber” who has robbed men o f their innocence, their fellowship with God, and o f the tree
