THE KING’S BUSINESS
o f life. Then he ^“strips” men o f their money, their garments, and even o f that with which they try to cover their shame. He “wounds” also; iri every meeting we hold one can discern men whom Satan has wounded. It is like a great hospital. There are all kinds o f patients who have all been wounded by one great foe. Like the men on the battle field, the first thing they do is to try to persuade themselves they are not wounded at all. Sin is so deceiving; the most dangerous wounds cause the least pain at the moment. Our business is to convince men o f their wounds, and o f their need o f the Great Physician, without whom they must perish. • The priest comes by, but- he can do noth ing. All the Law can do is to pronounce condemnation. Then the Levite passes. If there had been a law which could have given life, righteousness would have been by the law. But the next to come was One on whom the poor Jew had no claim, for the O N every Dutch vessel many natives of Singapore and the Malay States are found. The missionaries at Singapore have said that no Malay has yet been baptized, and the work has been going on since 1843. Their fear o f the Mohammedans, and fear that they would be killed if they became Christians, keeps them from coming out boldly for Christ. The group shown here, as have many others, has been given the Gospel on the vessel, in their own language. They readily accept this, and having much time on their long journeys,' we feel God has opened a wonderful door for us. Pray that He may raise up men who may even be willing to die for Christ, and then “the blood of the martyrs being the seed o f the church,” a revival may be looked for among the na tives whom we have learned to love so well. Jews have no dealings with the Samari tans (John 4:9 ). That Blessed One “came where he was” and “ saw him” and His great heart was moved with compassion. He goes to that poof sufferer, pours in the oil and wine, brings him to the “ inn,” and then says to His own servants, “take care o f him”—and lastly, ( “Whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, .1 will repay thee!” How often God has blessed these words to our own heart, when we have felt discouraged, “When I come again, I will repay thee” (Luke 10:35), and we have started up anew, determined that by God’s grace we would do our best for Him. There are vast opportunities, and every evening finds us at some lease, after the poor fellows who need the Lord. Please pray that God will open doors and give us more o f His Spirit to present the Word just as He would have it. This is our earnest wish and prayer. large Japanese passenger boat found the workers prepared o f God to again lift Him up, and won many hearts, the Spirit o f God being strongly manifested. Over 500 Gos pels were given out to -the Japanese and Chinese passengers, and twenty-sevgn con versions were the result o f a single Gospel service on that vessel. Have you prayed earnestly that God may yet separate the men who shall be the shepherds o f the ihcreasing flock down there in South America? Last month it was the worker’s privilege to visit, among many other vessels, two Dutch liners en route from Holland to the Dutch Indies, after a voyage o f nearly eight weeks. A splendid welcome was given us on the vessels among the crews and the 200 or more passengers i on each vessel. Each person received the Gospel in print. A large English cruiser was visited, and
