T e x t : Deuteronomy 11:12: “A land which the Lord thy God careth fo r: the eyes of the Lord thy God. are always upon it, from the beginning o f the year even unto the end o f the year.” I ntroduction : The text an illustration of God’s great care over His chosen people in the midst of the. varying vicissitudes o f life. . I. The text as we find it. 1. God’s love is always upon His people. 2. The Lord takes a personal interest in His people. 3. The unwearied power of God toward His people. 4. The eyes o f the Lord are always upon His people. 5. The use of the word “Jehovah” rather than “ God” is instructive. II. Turning the text over. That is to' say, we w ill misread it yet read it rightly: 1. “The eyes o f the Lord’s people are always upon Him from the beginning o f the year until the end.” 2. A blessed experience when realized. . III. Let us imagine that we blot the text out altogether. 1. A case of your imagination.

The value o f New Year with reference to new plans, ideals, resolutions. I. The great transformation—Behold, 1 make all things new. 1. A new way o f life. 2. A new life. 3. Everything new to the believer. II. An earnest call to consider this work of the Lord. 1. The call is to “behold.” 2. To behold a new creative work. T ext : Luke 13 :8. I ntroduction : This parable is a lesson with regard to new beginnings. I. The beginning of a new year suggests a retrospect. 1. A look back upon our youth. 2. Upon the prime of life. 3. O f the years filled with blessing or sorrow. 4. O f the opportunities and resolutions fulfilled and unfulfilled. II. The text mentions a mercy. 1. The extension o f our lives is o f God’s mercy. (a) A new birth. (b ) A new life. (c ) A daily renewing (d ) A new environment. “This Year Also”
