THE KING’S BUSINESS
HEART OF THE LESSON
To find the heart o f this lesson you must get in touch with the heart o f God. No sooner had the heart o f man turned away from God and yielded to the subtle snares' o f Satan, than God appeared upon the scene, and in wondrous grace, gave a prom ise which was the star o f hope to a lost world. I f you hold a seashell to your ear, you can hear the sound o f the waters, telling the story o f the restless' sea; if you hold the Bible to your ear, you can hear the heart o f its message, “ He is coming—the Seed o f the W oman!” For forty centuries the eye o f faith has been fixed upon that promise, and now He had come. God’s Son is God’s solution o f the prob- ■ lem o f the world’s sin, sorrow and suffer ing. God’s introduction o f His Son is as unique as is the Son Himself. The honor o f His introduction is conferred upon no prince, no potentate, no statesman, no sol dier nor member o f the Sanhedrin, but a child o f the wilderness, taught in God’s school, who uses a single sentence, preg nant with tremendous issues: “Behold the Lamb o f God that beareth away the sin o f the world!” - The Spirit o f God witnessed to John’s message, by descending upon Jesus- and anointing Him as the Temple o f God. The Father attested John’s proclamation by speaking out p f the heavens, “ This is my beloved Son.” The lesson is so simple, so sublime! The. curse o f the world is sin. The cure o f the P reparation .—W e make preparation for everything. Think o f the blocks o f build ings o f several stories high that had to be torn down. Notice the earth mostly of rock that had to be removed to a depth of ninety feet before they could begin to build the great terminal depot o f jthe Pennsylvania Railroad, in New York city. Note the preparation for education—first
curse is Christ Jesus, God’s Son. The need o f the world is for men and women who have seen the Lamb o f God, to go forth and proclaim the same message, “Behold, God’s Lamb!” All messages must center in Him. Every believer is constituted a prophet, and ordained to witness to this greatest o f all messages. It matters not how insignificant, how obscure, how little we are; we can be the mouthpiece, the sign-post, to point to the Lamb o f God, and to every such wit ness the Holy Spirit will attest and the Father will add His approval. W e can all prepare the way for our Lord. Let us do it. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) John’s body was clothed poorly, but his voice was clothed with power. (2) The message is the main thing with a man o f God. (3) “ V ox Populi” has never been “ V ox Dei.” (4) You can stand the smiting o f men if you have the smile o f God. (5) A God-sent man has a heart-searching message. (6) God’s ways are never man’s ways. (7) God’s beloved Son is man’s best friend. (8) Any saved man can be a sign post for God. (9) God was pleased with His Son, because His Son pleased Him. (10) When Heaven is opened you see a Triune God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. the kindergarten, then the grammar school, then the High School, the College, the Uni versity. See the preparation made by the German people before they entered into this conflict. Notice our preparation for war today. W e make great preparations for earthly kings and rulers, but how much preparation do we make for the Son o f God? John R. Mott was given the priv-
