THE KING’S BUSINESS

(7) The demon is cast out when Jesus comes in. ( 8 ) Jesus never preached deliverance for - demons. - Why not ? (9) We are called to be witnesses, workers J esus W orking .—Jesus was always busy. He worked. A little girl worked during her spare hours with her needle. She learned to sew beautifully. After a while she made her dolls dresses, and when she grew larger she made her own dresses. A boy said he was going to do more than make a living. He had to work eight hours a~day to support his widowed mother. He purposed to spend an hour a day studying his Bible, then half an hour playing the flute, and a half hour on the French lan guage and a half hour on the German lan guage. . At the end o f fi-ve years he was a splendid Bible student, he Was a good flute player, and he could speak one language well and read and speak in two others. Jesus passed on what he learned to oth ers—He taught the people. Half o f life is in getting knowledge and the other half is in giving out facts to others. J e £> us H elping .-—Jesus delivered others from trouble. He healed the man o f an unclean spirit. Not many people go about looking for unfortunates to help. A young man in a business office felt he ought to go to the door and look out. He went but came back to his books. The conviction to go out on the street was still on him. He put on his coat and stepped out, and just down the street were two boys in trouble. They had been sent with a basket o f clothes by their mother who was a wash woman. One o f them was sick and could not go further. The other boy had knelt down beside the basket and asked Jesus for help. God had found a man working in a busy office whom He could use to help these boys. Oh to be where we can dis cern the leading o f God to help others! J esus U ntiring .—This is a splendid les son on laziness. Some people are well named Slowcum and Doolittle! There was

and warriors in the world field. (10) White harvest fields call for willing harvest hands. (11) How can you help serving Him who has saved you ? a little clock on the mantel which said, “ Get there,” “Get there,” “Get there.” Beside it was a big clock saying, “ Don’t fret,” “Dont fret,” and the two together were saying “ Get there, Don’t fret;” “Get there, Don’t fret.” Jesus worked after the bell rang and the whistle blew. It says, “When the sun was set they brought unto Him all that were diseased. In a town in the east I saw full grown, able bodied men playing croquet day after day from morn till night. In another place men were playing marbles in the middle of the street. And in many homes women supposed to have brains play till the wee hours o f the morning with pieces o f still paper stamped with spots and figures. This was not the way Jesus spent His time. Some games are splendid for recreation, but not for a life-work. Jesus-went about doing good. J esus E xample .—Jesus spent the Sab bath thus. He went to worship in the syn agogue. Here he taught and cast an unclean spirit out o f a man. He went home to dinner with Peter and Andrew and healed Peter’s wife’s mother o f fever. At eventide He healed, and cast out demons. Compare this with the Sundays spent by the average Christian. Only a few people see a need in this world. O f this few, only a part o f them do anything to meet that need. A man rushed around a corner o f a rail road station to catch a train. He knocked over a little fellow selling peanuts and fruit. He did not stop to pick up the lad or offer to pay for the damage done. But a man on the train hustled down on the platform, and placing a five-dollar bill in the little fellow’s hand said, “Here lad —take this and don’t feel bad,” and ran back to the train.
