Parking in Downtown Clermont DEVELOPING STORIES:
A new parking lot is entering the final phases of construction on the corner of West Ave and Osceola St in Downtown Clermont. The lot will provide up to 106 additional parking spaces in the Central Business District.
OVERVIEW
This project includes constructing a lighted, paved parking area adjacent to Osceola Street on the north side of the existing South Lake Trail between Victory Way and Salt Shack on the Lake. There will be 99 parking spaces with (8) designated as handicapped. To improve safety, about 400 feet of the existing trail will be adjusted north to reduce the points of potential conflict between vehicles and pedestrians/bicyclists. Environmentally friendly lighting that follows the dark-sky requirements will be installed and healthy on-site trees will be protected or relocated.
WORK DETAILS & SCHEDULE
Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The targeted completion date is set for early June. This schedule may be impacted by weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Robin Maynard-Harris and her team at Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation have served the South Lake community for nearly two decades. The foundation recently received a generous grant from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake. These funds, in collaboration with the City of Groveland’s Eco-Agrarian vision for the future, have helped launch Waterwell Farms, an Aquaponics Farm growing fresh produce in Groveland. Waterwell Farms produce can be found at the Farmers Market being held at Festival Park every Saturday Morning at 9 AM.“Groveland Grown” products from Local farms Offbeat Acres, Olive Isle Farms and Harrison Creek Farms can also be found. “This all used to be Orange Groves”, they’d say.
Citrus in many ways was what South Lake was known for.
A tower was built just to see the endless rows of orange trees. Today, the tower still stands, but many of the treetops have now been replaced with rooftops. In some areas of South Lake you can still see the remnants of a once great citrus industry in between numerous residential and commercial developments. This community has seen a lot of change since the great freeze of the late 80's. The changes won’t be stopping anytime soon.
So, what will South Lake be known for now? What will the next 30 years bring us?

Program Eligibility: Open to any south Lake County resident 18 years of age and older. Does not require insurance. No cost. This free program provides you with the support and knowledge you need to reduce your cardiovascular risk factors (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, blood sugar, body weight). The program includes: Two biometric screening sessions (one before and one after) Six weekly virtual education sessions designed to help you establish and maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
