Une importante présence des services d’urgence a été ressentie à Embrun lundi soir, le 13 mars, alors que la Police provinciale de l’Ontario (PPO) menait des recherches pour retrouver d’éven- tuels jeunes disparus, y compris des recherches dans la rivière Castor. Peu avant 21 h lundi soir, la PPO a annon- cé sur Twitter qu’on lui avait signalé que deux jeunes enfants jouaient près de la rivière Castor. On a dit à la police que quelqu’un pensait avoir vu un enfant s’enfoncer dans la rivière. La police a effectué des recherches approfondies dans le secteur situé entre MFDIFNJO4U+PTFQIFUMBSVF/PUSF%BNF Aucune preuve que quelqu’un soit tombé dans la rivière n’a été trouvée et aucune personne disparue n’a été signalée pour le moment. %FTUÊNPJOTPOUQVCMJÊTVS'BDFCPPLEFT photos des recherches menées dans un cimetière voisin, ainsi que des opérations en bateau sur la rivière Castor. Alors que le congé de mars est en cours et que les enfants passent plus de temps à l’extérieur, la police tient à rappeler à tous qu’il n’y a pas de glace sans danger et qu’il faut rester à l’écart des cours d’eau. Le réchauffement des températures peut entraîner des changements rapides des conditions sur la rivière.

LES CAVES ARTISANALES DEMANDENT LE SOUTIEN DE LES CUPR POUR LA SUPPRESSION DE LA MAJORATION s’agissait de l’article 4, paragraphe 1 de la
tout établissement vinicole produisant moins de 2 000 caisses par an. M. MacMillan cherchait à obtenir l’aide de les CUPR pour éliminer la majoration et la taxe sur le vin imposées par la LCBO sur la livraison de vins 100 pourcent ontariens non conformes à la norme AQV. M. MacMillan a présenté au conseil un tableau comparant les frais imposés sur deux bouteilles de vin de 18,02 $, l’une AQV et l’autre non AQV. Une bouteille AQV est soumise à un total de 19,7 pourcent de taxes : 14 pourcent au gouvernement provincial, 4 pourcent au gouvernement fédéral et une consigne de 1 pourcent sur les contenants. Cela signifie qu’un total de 3,55 dollars est consacré aux taxes et que la société vinicole réalise un bénéfice de 14,47 dollars. Dans le même temps, une bouteille non soumise à l’AQV est soumise aux mêmes taxes, à l’exception de la taxe provinciale qui passe à 42 pourcent. Cela signifie qu’un total de 8,57 $, soit 47,5 pourcent du prix de vente, est prélevé en taxes, ce qui ne laisse que 9,45 $ de bénéfice à l’établissement vinicole. « Alors, d’où vient le pouvoir de la LCBO d’imposer cette majoration et cette taxe sur le vin? » a déclaré M. MacMillan. « Pour être franc, on nous a dit pendant plusieurs années qu’il s’agissait d’un changement législatif. Il m’a fallu un an de discussions avec le ministère des finances pour comprendre qu’il

Selon la présentation, le prélèvement a rendu la vente de vin aux restaurants locaux, aux lieux d’événements et à d’autres titulaires de licences trop coûteuses pour les établissements vinicoles artisanaux locaux. Ils ne peuvent pas non plus adhérer à la AQV parce que les frais sont tout aussi élevés que la taxe et que les caves artisanales sont trop petites pour les compenser par leurs ventes. M. MacMillan demande qu’une résolution soit adoptée en faveur de l’élimination de la majoration de la LCBO et de la taxe sur le vin, et qu’elle soit transmise au ministre des Finances pour qu’il l’étudie. “Social stigma and discrimination can compound problems and make recovery more difficult for people living with mental illness,” the CMHA said in the release. “So, what can we do to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness? One great way is to start by changing the language we use when we talk about mental health issues.” Rather than using negative or stigmatizing phrases such as “this drives me crazy”, “this is stupid”, or “this person has a mental illness”, the CMHA encourages people to use neutral phrasing such as “this is annoying”, “this is strange”, and “this person is living with a mental
illness”. Stigmatizing language can have detrimental effects on people, such as inspiring feelings of shame and hopelessness, making people reluctant to seek help or treatment, or making people believe they can never overcome their illnesses. Stigmatizing mental illness can even affect professional advancement and job pros- pects, or trigger bullying and harassment. “The fight against stigma starts with our- selves,” the CMHA said. “Let’s remember to be careful about our choice of words by using accurate and sensitive words when talking about people living with mental illness.”
March is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the CMHA is urging people to moderate their language to support those with mental health issues and illnesses. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month in March, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has sent a release to bring awareness to the stigma surrounding mental health in local communities. All too often, they say, people are defined by their illness rather than who they are as individuals.

À Châteauguay, le 2 mars 2023, est décédé à l’âge de 98 ans, Monsieur Gilles Legault, natif de Saint-Polycarpe et résident de Casselman (Ontario) pendant de nombreuses années. Il laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Jacqueline (feu Julien Huet) et Lise (feu Robert Carignan), ses nombreux neveux et nièces ainsi que ses amis, spécifiquement Nathalie et Gilles Laplante et sa compagne des dernières années, Lina Lafontaine et sa famille. Il a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents Ludger Legault et Rosalie Montpellier, ses frères et sœurs, Urbain (feu Françoise Deschamps), Gérard (feu Alice Rouleau – feu Doris Frampton) Georgette (feu Germain Giroux), Yolande (Gaston Lalonde) et Gaétane. Également précédé dans la mort par ses demi-frères et sœurs, Benoit (feu Adrienne Messier), Hortense (feu Ovide Thauvette), Bruno (feu Anna Grace Lafave), Gaétan (Thérèse Viger), Janvier (feu Simonne Deschênes) et Simonne (feu Édouard Lauzon). La Compagnie d'édition André Paquette Inc., éditeur de journaux communautaires bilingues à Hawkesbury (Tribune-Express, Le Carillon), Lachute (L'Argenteuil), Rockland (Vision) et Embrun (Reflet-News) recherche les services d'un JOURNALISTE-RÉDACTEUR Fonctions : • Rédiger des articles sur une variété de sujets, y compris des sujets découlant de réunions municipales, d'événements communautaires, de sports, d'arts, etc. • Travailler dans une salle de rédaction composée de journalistes, en relisant les articles et en élaborant des plans pour chaque journal hebdomadaire. • Prendre des photos et enregistrer des vidéos • Mettre en page le journal à l'aide d'InDesign • Préparer des articles pour le site web et l'application mobile • Doit posséder véhicule et permis de conduire valide Qualifications : • Formation en journalisme ou dans un domaine pertinent ; ou expérience pertinente. • Bilingue : capacité à communiquer en anglais et en français ; la capacité à bien écrire dans les deux langues sera considérée comme un atout important.
