Let’s Celebrate Doughnut Day!

IN HONOR OF NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY

Every June, the first Friday of the month is dedicated to a very important celebration: National Doughnut Day. You may know this delectable

St. Louis is home to some delicious doughnut purveyors, including Vincent Van Doughnut and Donut Palace. In 2015, after cultivating a fan base with their delicious, made-from-scratch creations sold out of a 1960 Grumman Olson (St. Louis’ first doughnut truck), Vincent Van Doughnut won the Cooking Channel’s "Donut Showdown" and opened up their first storefront. Donut Palace in Ellisville is a local family-run business that’s been serving Missouri for over 16 years. LOCAL DELICACIES MAKE A DIFFERENCE In response to COVID-19, Vincent Van Doughnut and Donut Palace not

only kept sweet tooths satisfied with delivery and curbside pickup options, but they also found a way to give back to our health care community.The shops donated doughnuts and made deliveries to health care workers with the help of caring community members and their dough-nations . Both Vincent Van Doughnut and Donut Palace also began putting together quarantine kits so people could make their own doughnut creations at home. It proved to be a fun home economics activity and a delicious treat to boot. This month, whether you indulge in a chocolate cake donut or a bacon- topped maple bar, get in on the celebration and enjoy some tasty treats from local businesses.
