PREACHING PRINT

T h r e e t h o u s a n d p r e a c h e r s sit quietly on shelves waiting to be used. They are evangelical in mes sage, adjustable iii schedule, and in ternational in ministry. Their wit ness reaches into 44 states, four provinces of Canada, Great Britain and Australia. These preachers are evangelical Christian books which have been placed in public libraries through Preaching Print, a book distribution

ministry. It all started ten years ago when Dr. Roger Congdon, a teacher at Multnomah School of the Bible in northwestern Oregon, was visiting many towns and cities in an evange listic ministry. Dr. Congdon would drop in at the public library to check the religious section. He found many books by Roman Catholic and liberal Protes tant writers, a Book of Mormon for L a tte r -d a y Saints, Science and

Health for Christian Scientists, and other cult publications. Sometimes he saw a text Bible, unattractive, grey and dusty. Most often the shelves were barren of evangelical books. This lack of good Christian books burdened his heart and led to the establishing of Preaching Print. Dr. Congdon wrote about this matter to pastors he had come to know during his evangelistic ministry.
