counties council. An enjoyable tradition for every warden of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) is to dedicate the proceeds from both the annual warden’s golf tourna- ment and the warden’s end-of-term ban- quet to one or more designated charities or community service programs or projects within their own municipality or which served the Prescott-Russell region at large. The late Jean-Paul St-Pierre passed away

in October before he could finish his term as UCRP warden for 2014, but he had already decided on what to do with the largesse from the two fundraising events which took place during his time in office. At the start of the Dec. 17 inaugural ses- sion of the new 2015 UCPR council, Joc- elyn St-Pierre presented, in the name of her late husband, four cheques, amounting to $18,000, to non-profit groups serving the people and communities specific to Russell

Township and and also to Russell County at large. She noted her husband“very much”want- ed to provide something for these “commu- nity-focused organizations” in particular. Receiving $3000 each were the Good Neighbours Food Bank, based in Embrun, and Connecting Pieces. Cheques for $6000 each went to le Centre Urgel Forget, located in Embrun, and to the Royal Canadian Le- gion (Branch 372), based in Russell.
