Newport Sea Base: Sailing Level I — Elementary Beginners Schedule: Monday–Friday: 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.–5 p.m. Fees: $385 per session Site: Newport Sea Base Offered: Week 1–10* These beginning sailing camps are a perfect introduction to the exciting world of sailing. Practice identifying wind direction and speed, rigging your boat, sailing up wind and down, capsizing, tacking, and jibing. Swimming proficiency test is required on the first day of camp. Inst: Orange County Scouting America. Ages 7–9. *No class 7/3. Board our 47 ft. Pontoon Fishing Boat with a 360 fishing expe- rience. First day is bay fishing in scenic Newport Harbor fol- lowed by four days of ocean fishing. Learn which equipment to use for various kinds of fish and how to best rig your tackle. Equipment provided. Inst: Orange County Scouting America. Ages 11–17. *No class 7/3. Paddle a giant 10-person paddle board and then dissect a shark with our marine naturalist instructors. This program features kayaking, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), canoeing, team competitions, scavenger hunts and prizes.
