The Work Behind the Build
Written by: Skyler Grey Editor in Chief | Built America Magazine
There’s a difference between learning construction and growing up inside it.
For Founder, Travis Pyke, the work didn’t start with a role or a title. It started earlier— on job sites, around materials and inside a process most people only see once it’s finished. “I’ve been in the trades my whole life since grade school,” he says. “Our family built our own house… I worked for GCs, all the different construction trades.” That kind of experience doesn’t separate design from execution—it blends them. You learn what holds, what fails, and what slows a project down before it even begins, along with how much of the outcome is decided long before the structure takes shape.
That understanding carries through in the way Wind River Built operates today.
