We write to petition the Faculty Senate Executive Committee to bring a motion to Faculty Senate to authorize a vote of no confidence against President Jim Wohlpart per Faculty Code Section IV.G.2. The Code requires that we address four components, as outlined below.
a) Name and title of administrator:
Dr. Jim Wohlpart, President, CWU
b) Instructions guiding how the vote is to be conducted (i.e. time/day, voting period, who may vote): As outlined in the Faculty Code, the vote should take place by anonymous paper ballot, which will be distributed to faculty via campus mail to each department on Ellensburg and center campuses. In cases where a faculty member’s official station is “online,” they are on leave, or they are otherwise unable to complete the ballot in Ellensburg, they will receive a secure online ballot. Once returned, online ballots will be printed to be included in the paper ballot count. Eligible voting members shall include all current full- time non-tenure track CWU faculty with an annual or multi-annual contract and tenure- track and tenured CWU faculty members. Ballots will be distributed no later than February 6, 2026, and will be returned to the Faculty Senate by February 13, 2026. Mailed ballots must be post-marked by February 13, 2026. Results of the vote will be shared with the university no later than February 20, 2026.
c) The specific ballot language:
As a Central Washington University faculty member, I no longer have confidence in Dr. Jim Wohlpart to lead the institution and perform his duties as President due to his persistent and severe pattern of decisions to eliminate faculty participation in shared governance and to consolidate his own power to the detriment of the institution.
- Agreed. I do not have confidence in President Jim Wohlpart. - Disagreed. I do have confidence in President Jim Wohlpart.
