Justification for the Immediacy and Necessity of this Vote
This vote is not taken lightly. Faculty value institutional stability, effective leadership, and a strong administration, and fully recognize the difficult position in which this places the BOT. However, after sustained efforts to work within established governance processes, this action has become a necessary last step to protect the well-being of the University. Taken together, the actions of President Wohlpart represent a sustained pattern of conduct that undermines shared governance, erodes trust, and compromises the effective functioning of the University. Repeated efforts by faculty to address these concerns through collaborative and established governance processes have been unsuccessful, leaving no viable alternative for accountability. A vote is therefore necessary to formally acknowledge the severity of these concerns, to uphold the principles of shared governance, and to signal to the administration, the BOT, and the broader university community that this pattern of leadership is incompatible with the institution’s academic mission and long-term health. CWU has thrived for more than 125 years through the dedication of its academic community. To ensure the University’s continued health and success, a change in leadership is necessary.
