Got Back Pain? Your Posture Could Be The Culprit…
Posture refers to the position(s) of a person’s body in space. Prolonged postures, like sitting or standing for long periods, often lead to stiffness and soreness in the spine. The good news is that The Physiotherapy Center LTD’s physiotherapists can help you improve your posture over the long-term! Give us a call today to schedule an appointment! Causes of poor posture In the upper part of the spine, slouching will cause a forward-head posture. This, in turn, creates a strain on the neck muscles and joints, resulting in neck pain and upper back pain, and may lead to arm pain or chronic headaches. Slouching also affects the mid-back by altering the way your ribs align. Over time, sitting and standing like this may cause internal issues, as it creates pressure on your lungs, heart, and digestive system. The lower back can be affected by slouching as well. Slouching causes increased pressure to the lumbar discs and causes the muscles in your hips and legs to tighten. This tension affects how the pelvis and spine move and often leads to lower back pain!
How can physiotherapy help? Working with a physiotherapist to improve your posture with exercises is an effective way to overcome chronic pain. PT offers ideal methods for providing you with an opportunity to understand what may be causing your pain. A therapist can help you to mobilize your spine and strengthen the surrounding muscles to alleviate the pain associated with your poor postural habits. Your therapist will teach you strategies like: • Standing tall whenever you are standing or walking. • Using lumbar support when you sit to keep your posture correct. • Maintaining a straight spine when you lift heavy objects. Call us today Physiotherapists at The Physiotherapy Center LTD are dedicated to getting you back on track to a pain-free life. They will evaluate your posture to determine the best treatments necessary for you, and create a treatment plan catering to your needs. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment!

Prepare to Swim in the Water Safely
Swimming is a great way to stay active and cool as the weather warms up. However, it’s essential to take the necessary steps to ensure that you’re safe in the water. Check out these important swimming safety tips before heading out to the beach or pool this summer! Ensure that a lifeguard is present as you swim Having a trained lifeguard watching over you at the pool or beach is a must. A lifeguard can prevent you from sustaining a severe injury or drowning and can generally ensure that you’re following the best practices for swimming. Swim with a buddy Not only is swimming with a friend a great way to stay safe, it’s also more fun! Swimming with a buddy can also help you hold yourself more accountable and stay determined as you progress through your laps.
Never leave a child unattended It is essential to make sure your child never swims alone– this is how accidents happen. Teach your children to ask permission before going in the water, and let them know that an adult should always be there to supervise them. Drink plenty of water It can be easy to get dehydrated under the hot sun, even if you are in a cool and refreshing body of water. Remember to drink plenty of liquids and avoid dehydrating drinks with excess caffeine. Wear your sunscreen Invest in a quality waterproof sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays. Wearing sunscreen can make a massive difference in the fight against skin cancer and can help you avoid painful burns.

Better Golfing This Summer
Click Here To Schedule Your Next Appointment
Have you been looking forward to golf season all year? If you’re an avid golfer, the last thing you want is for an injury to take you out of commission. At The Physiotherapy Center LTD, our physiotherapists are highly trained movement experts who can help you prevent injury. And before you see us, there are many things you can do on your own to protect yourself from the possibility of a painful injury. Did you know that most golf injuries are caused by poor swing mechanics, poor core strength, or an improper warm-up? Adjusting your golf swing can be hugely beneficial and make this sport much easier on the body. Maintaining proper posture throughout your swing is critical for preventing injuries. You should stand with
your feet shoulder-width apart, rotated slightly outward, and your knees slightly bent. It’s also important to keep a relatively straight spine. Make sure to avoid hunching over the ball, as this can cause neck and back strain. Be mindful of how aggressively you swing at the ball. Swinging the club too hard or too fast can put strain on your joints. Take a nice, easy swing at the ball. Not only will this help prevent injury, but it will also improve your game with a consistent swing tempo! If you’re searching for more ways to improve your swing this season, contact The Physiotherapy Center LTD today. Our team can examine your posture and recommend improvements to lessen your risk of injury and increase your skill. See you out on the course!

Recipe Of The Month: Summer Garden Veggie Pasta
Directions: Cook pasta in well-salted water according to package instructions. Before draining, reserve ½ cup of pasta water and set aside. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, then add garlic and cook about 30-60 seconds longer, until fragrant. Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, thyme, and red pepper and cook, stirring frequently until tomatoes soften and burst. Once tomatoes are soft enough you can use a wooden spoon or spatula to squish them as you stir. Add basil and stir. Add warm cooked, drained linguine and stir well. Add splashes of pasta water as needed to make a thin sauce, you basically want to ensure the pasta is not dry and the noodles are coated with a thin layer of the sauce. Remove from heat, add parmesan and stir well. Taste-test and add additional salt or pepper as needed, then serve warm topped with additional parmesan.
Ingredients: • 8 oz linguine pasta
• ¼ c extra virgin olive oil • 1 c finely chopped onion • 6 cloves garlic, sliced • 24 oz cherry tomatoes • ½ tsp granulated sugar • ½ tsp table salt • ¼ tsp black pepper • ¼ tsp dried thyme • ¼ tsp red pepper • 1 oz basil leaves shredded • 1/3 c grated parmesan
“Telehealth involves using telecommunications and virtual technology to deliver healthcare outside of traditional healthcare facilities. Telehealth, which requires access only to telecommunications, is the most basic element of “eHealth,” which uses a broader range of information and communication technologies (ICTs). Telehealth examples include virtual home health care, where patients such as the chronically ill or the elderly may receive guidance in specific procedures while remaining at home. Telehealth has also made it easier for healthcare workers in remote field settings to obtain advice from professionals elsewhere in diagnosis, care, and referral of patients. Training can sometimes also be delivered via telehealth schemes or related technologies such as eHealth, which uses small computers and the internet. Well-designed telehealth schemes can improve healthcare access and outcomes, particularly for chronic disease treatment and vulnerable groups. Not only do they reduce demands on crowded facilities, but they also create cost We Offer Telehealth
savings and make the health sector more resilient. Since remote communication and treatment of patients reduce the number of health service visits, transport-related emissions and operational requirements emissions are reduced. In addition, fewer space demands can result in smaller health facilities, with concurrent reductions in construction materials, energy and water consumption, waste, and overall environmental impact.”
