The Northeast Alabama Community College Softball program opened its inaugural season on February 1, 2025 with a 3-2 victory over Chattahoochee Valley Community College at Mustang Field in Rainsville. Prior to the game, the team posed for a picture with Alabama Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter. Speaker Ledbetter had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Plainview's Sawyer Kate Hulgan (No. 13) battles with Cherokee County's Brooklynn Bruce (No. 2) during the opening game of the 2025 Northeast Regional Tournament at Jax State. The Lady Bears defeated Cherokee County 47-36. Plainview went on to defeat Madison Academy 53-48 in overtime in the tournament championship game. Hulgan scored 31 points to earn MVP Honors. Plainview's Cy Traylor (No. 35) recorded a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds in the 2025 Class 4A Northeast Regional Championship game. His performance earned him MVP Honors and it helped the Bears advance to the AHSAA Final Four. Plainview is set to play Fairfield on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. During the NE regional tournament the Bears defeated Alexandria 64-56 and Madison Academy 58-53. Plainview 6th Grade Girls Runner-up The Plainview 6th grade girls claimed the runner-up spot in the 2025 DeKalb County Tournament. Vanderbilt Upsets No. 24 Ole Miss The Vanderbilt Commodores celebrated a 77-72 victory over No. 24 Ole Miss on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, TN. Four of Vanderbilt’s starting five players reached double-digits in the game. Chris Manon (#30) led the Commodores with 16 points and seven rebounds.
