to the tile feature wall inside. Their designer selected decorative tiles with blue tones to create the feeling of a waterfall inside the shower. It was another design decision where Joe expressed their initial hesitation, but “trust your people,” he said, and the outcome will be worth it. A second feature of the shower is the showerhead. “A friend of mine is an engineer in Michigan, and he does a lot of bathroom stuff. That is his core fixture; it has a Bluetooth speaker right in the middle of the showerhead,” said Joe. “There’s a magnet that holds it in, and if I’m in the middle of a podcast, I’ll just carry it with me until it’s finished.” On the opposite end of the bathroom is the tub area. To match their more contemporary look and for a continued illusion of space, they chose a freestanding tub. Behind the tub are niches for art, repeating the look of the niches in the living room. You can tell every detail was carefully thought out and designed to give the home continuity. When I asked the Saul-Sheys for their favorite parts, they couldn’t even decide. Cheryl laughingly said, “That’s really hard for me. First, we finished the bar and thought that would be it; then we finished the fireplace, and I thought it was. Then, we finished the bathroom, but our favorite place to sit is in the study, so it could be there.” Joe added, “It’s a nice, calm space. I like how when I walk in here, I immediately feel my blood pressure go down. Plus, because I work from here, it’s a great place to spend the day. It’s a beautiful place to be.”
