EXPERIENCE OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
BRINGING PEOPLE & PLACES TOGETHER
In the 1960s, Founder and Chairman Daniel Levin led the development of South Commons—an ambitious 28-acre urban renewal project on Chicago’s South Side. This groundbreaking mixed-income community introduced more than 1,500 residential units, along with commercial space and a school. Building on the success of South Commons, Levin established The Habitat Company in 1971 to carry forward the development and management principles that shaped the project. More than 50 years later, The Habitat Company has grown into a diversified real estate leader with a portfolio spanning market-rate, mixed-income, affordable, condominium, mixed-use, and commercial properties. We take pride in creating developments that enrich communities and are built to stand the test of time.

43 Green Chicago, IL
ONE333 Chicago, IL
43 Green is a $100 million mixed-income, mixed-use development in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood. Revitalizing a long- vacant city lot, it includes two phases: East & West. The Habitat Company, with P3 Markets, engaged locals to meet the demand for market-rate housing with long-term affordability. 43 Green East opened in 2023, and 43 Green West in late 2024.
Acquiring ONE333 allowed Habitat to buy a new multifamily high-rise in Chicago’s South Loop at a below-market price, as it was only 70% leased. The plan was to purchase low and hold as the neighborhood developed. We upgraded common areas, revamped the lobby, added a management office and business center, and renovated shared spaces.
