My Favorite Season Is Finally Here! Although we’re right in the middle of fall it sure doesn’t feel like it! When I step outside, while it’s a tad cooler, I can still feel the heat from the sun — I will never need a heavy jacket! All the leaves and flowers are still brightly blooming, and it doesn’t seem like they plan on stopping anytime soon. PUMPKIN SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE Growing up, you could definitely tell when fall was quickly approaching us in Coal Valley, Illinois. The humidity and heat died down as cool morning air and crisp nights entered our daily routines. I remember the colorful scenery I was greeted with every day and how I would dig through my clothes, hoping to find something to accommodate the ever-changing weather conditions. But now, I can keep my summer and spring clothes out all year long! I may need to add a light jacket or additional layers for early morning and late night outings, but other than that, it seems like everything remains the same. Sometimes, getting into the season and celebrating is challenging because my surroundings hardly change. But I’ve realized the fall season is more of a mindset than anything else. It can be 80 degrees and sunny outside, but it can look and feel like a fall wonderland inside my home! One of my favorite ways to get into the fall spirit is to start the season off with our annual visit to our favorite costume shop! After Labor Day weekend, Ashley, Jade, and I will hit our favorite store to get our Halloween costumes early. The Hollywood Costume store is unlike Spirit Halloween and other seasonal stores. This store is open all year round and has some of the most realistic costumes! If you’re a big horror movie fan like I am, you definitely want to visit the Hollywood Costume store!

Another way I get into the fall and Halloween spirit is by enjoying all of seasonal home decor. Starting in September, our home is filled with fall-festive scents, pumpkins, wreaths, and other fall decor. Then, around the end of the month, we start adding Halloween props to the inside and outside of our home. We set up a skeleton and hang him in a tree. Poor Mr. Bones — he’s been hanging out for so many years that I don’t know how much longer he will last! We also install kid-friendly inflatables and other items to make our home trick-or-treat ready. I love seeing what my neighbors do with their yard. One couple displayed 20-foot-tall skeletons and witches last year, and another family set up animated films that played on the side of their house! I’m curious to see what they will do — I can’t wait to walk around and see everyone’s decorations!

I’ve realized the fall season is more of a mindset than anything else. It can be 80 degrees and sunny outside, but it can look and feel like a fall wonderland inside my home!”

Besides placing pumpkins and other festive decor around my home, I also celebrate fall by taking advantage of all the pumpkin and fall-themed drinks and goodies. As soon as Starbucks announced their pumpkin spice coffees were back, I was one of the first people in line! I also stopped by Dunkin’ Donuts to get a pumpkin doughnut — it’s so delicious! I also love seeing the various beer flavors local breweries release for Oktoberfest. But honestly, I love pumpkin-flavored beer all year long. Storm House Brewing, Twisted Trunk, and Tequesta Brewing are a few of my favorites.

So, while it may not look like fall outside, you can still celebrate the season by decorating, watching seasonal movies, and taking advantage of all the drinks and foods returning to menus this fall. Remember, it’s all about your mindset!

You’ve probably watched some action-packed movie where the premise relies entirely on the belief that we only use 10% of our brains. The protagonist somehow “unlocks” their full brain potential and gains superhuman abilities. While movies like “Lucy” and “Limitless” are undoubtedly entertaining, the concept that we only utilize 10% of our brains is entirely false. Despite this widespread belief being entirely inaccurate, many believe it to be a valid scientific finding. In fact, one survey found that 65% of Americans believe in the 10% theory. Even more frightening is the study that revealed nearly 50% of primary and secondary school teachers in many countries believe this myth. So, how much of our brains do we really use? Understand the truth about our brain power. With the help of modern technology such as PET (positron emission tomography) scans and fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging), we can clearly see that humans use all of their brains at all times. Yes, even when we sleep! Individuals with degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease still use more than 10% of their brains. Our evolutionary process also would have ensured the useless 90% of our brains would go away through natural selection if this myth were true. When it comes to brain activity, each part of our brain has a function. Where did the 10% myth come from? Despite being a common misbelief, the exact source of this myth is unclear. Many threads lead back to various archaic medical findings that were either misconstrued or outdated and inaccurate. It’s plausible that pseudoscientists, psychics, and self-help gurus falsely perpetuated the 10% myth to sell the desire to “unlock our full potential.” THE TRUTH BEHIND OUR BRAIN POWER MIND OVER MYTH:

“I had a very positive experience! Sam was great and very honest about what to expect. I got the best possible outcome for my situation, so I am more than happy! If you need legal help, this is the place to go! Don’t think twice!” –Aaron N. A MESSAGE FROM THE FAITHFUL HALLOWEEN PRANKS GONE WRONG Halloween is the spookiest time of the year! In honor of all things creepy and terrifying, we wanted to share a few pranks that could get you arrested. While most of these incidents occurred in other states (and they may have different laws than in Florida), it’s still important to be mindful of the activities you can participate in for the holiday. Scaring Strangers It’s very common for people to dress up and try to scare their family, friends, and strangers. However, others tend to take the joke a tad too far… In 2017, a Florida man purchased a “Scream” mask and carried around a fake knife at an apartment complex. The gentleman scared two unsuspecting women who were unloading their cars. The women believed the knife was real and feared for their lives. Because of this, the man was charged with aggravated assault and arrested.

So, the next time you hear someone mention we only use 10% of our brains, you can dispute that myth with abundant and trustworthy scientific sources to back you up.

could lead to paint damage and broken windows. In some states, it counts as vandalism or criminal mischief. Criminal mischief occurs when you intentionally damage or tamper with someone else’s property. And two women from Connecticut didn’t realize their seemingly harmless prank would have serious consequences. The pair decided to egg the car of a former neighbor one Halloween night. To them, the act was “revenge for past disputes.” But according to law enforcement, they were participating in a criminal act. After the women were reported for their actions, they were charged with breach of peace and criminal mischief.

Personalized Vacations With AI

The feeling of excitement for an upcoming vacation can quickly turn into one of stress. After you purchase your ticket or plan your travel, you may feel so burnt out that scheduling day-to-day activities for said vacation feels impossible. Thankfully, helping you create an itinerary is where AI thrives. So, how do you use AI to help you plan a trip? The first step is to craft a prompt that will get the best response possible. To do that, ask your preferred AI platform questions in your native language. AI understands many languages, and your grammar and syntax when asking questions matter when looking for perfect results. The more grammatically accurate your sentence is, the more artificial intelligence can help you. Next, you need to be as specific as possible. Include all relevant information about your travel party when asking it to make plans for you, including if there are any kids, elderly travelers, pets, dietary restrictions, interests, or priorities because those factors will impact the results it gives you.

You should also tell the AI software when it misunderstands you or gives you results that don’t match what you want. AI, like ChatGPT, uses large language models (LLMs) to learn from the person interacting with it, so the back-and-forth of providing feedback helps it pinpoint your specific interests to give you better information. For example, you can provide this prompt: “Make me a travel itinerary for seven days in Rome with activities in less crowded areas that are accessible to elderly travelers.” Finally, double-check any of the information AI gives you. Most platforms can only access information available before 2021, so certain attractions, restaurants, parks, or other itinerary items may not exist anymore. Want to give AI travel a go? ChatGPT isn’t the only site you can use to plan your itinerary! You can try any one of the following AI software specifically created for travel:
