The 2025 season is also announced in this brochure. Two hilarious comedies - IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY and DON'T ROCK THE BOAT . And a real coup in gaining the rights to DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY - the best selling novel by P.D James - and a popular tv series. To this add some fabulous Sunday concerts ranging from The Rat Pack to a Bob Marley Tribute . If you saw TWELFTH NIGHT last year in our restaurant we are pleased to announce that the same production will appear on THE QUEEN MARY 2 on its way across the Altlantic to New York this summer! More plays featuring in the bar and restaurant are soon to be announced. Adam & I are delighted to welcome Dominic Armstrong to The Mill team as our Head of Hospitality. Dominic brings with him a wealth of experience and will lead some exciting changes in the restaurant later in the year. We have already made some changes to our food offering in our daytime bar. Do check out the new menu on our website. Delicious lunches, cakes and cocktails can be enjoyed in our waterside terrace bar all year round. And then of course the other factor of The Mill is the building itself. We forget sometimes just how beautiful it is until we see it through the eyes of a newcomer. This Grade 2 listed Watermill needs constant love and attention. This year the staircase going from the bar to the restaurant is being refurbished. Thank you
O n July 22nd this year The Mill Theatre will celebrate its 42nd anniversary. Sometimes that is a milestone for a family run business to sell up and retire. But not for us at The Mill. It feels like we are just starting. There are so many exciting, artistic ventures waiting to entertain you. Adam and I hope to make The Mill at Sonning continue to stand out with its excellence in the arts and hospitality. Let’s look at the year artistically. Our summer production of GYPSY won the UK Theatre Award for Best Musical Production in the UK. Our Christmas production of HIGH SOCIETY yet again garnered 5 star reviews from the National Press. This year we have some wonderful productions waiting for you. CALENDAR GIRLS , and the most charming adaptation of THREE MEN IN A BOAT ; Alan Ayckbourn’s funniest play BEDROOM FARCE ; a world premiere of THE WHISTLING a chilling ghost story; culminating in our Christmas production of WHITE CHRISTMAS . We have already tested the snow!!!

T he Mill at Sonning is delighted that The George Hatfield Theatrical Arts Foundation is now up and running as a charity. On Tuesday, April 23rd - also St George’s day - we

The double act of these two impressive men is a spectacle to behold. Fabulous music from Rick, laughter and some truly heart warming stories about the Moon Bears of Asia. Peter & Rick will be joined by a special guest to be announced at a later date. This sparkling event will raise funds for ANIMALS ASIA which promotes compassion and respect for all animals, working to end the barbaric bear bile trade in China and Vietnam, rescuing over 500 bears so far and caring for them at their award- winning sanctuaries.
E very year, acclaimed actor Peter Egan, The Mill’s very first Artistic Director, produces a special charity event for Animals Asia, a dedicated animal rights activist and Animals Asia’s UK Ambassador. Peter is thrilled that his great friend, the legendary performer Rick Wakeman has agreed to co-host a matinee performance on Sunday, August 11th . A delicious vegan and vegetarian menu will be on offer for lunch before the show. Peter has starred in television’s EVER DECREASING CIRCLES, DOWNTON ABBEY, AFTER LIFE with Ricky Gervais,

Before the pandemic The Mill was slowly being refurbished with a new project every year. The bar, the restaurant, the kitchens, the lighting in theatre etc. That all stopped for a couple of years while The Mill found its feet again. And joyously we can tell you about the re-start of our refurbishment ambitions for this beautiful Grade 2 listed Mill. The next project is the staircase that joins the Waterwheel Bar to The Restaurant. The carpet replaced, the walls smooth, a beautiful lighting design. I n a wild ride down the Thames, the tranquil river waters turn into a storm in a teapot as Robin Hawdon’s brilliant comedy unfolds! Picture this. Brash, self-made property tycoon Arthur Bullhead is on a mission to seal the deal of his dreams. But instead of a boardroom, he chooses the quirky setting of his converted riverside barge, the Bunty, for a weekend getaway with the local planning committee chairman and his unsuspecting family. Little do they know, Bullhead’s idea of a relaxing weekend involves more chaos than calm. With personalities clashing like bumper cars at a fairground, the stage is set for a comedy of errors. Join us for An Evening (or afternoon) with "The Whirlwind" Jimmy White ! Hosted by none other than the voice of world snooker Mr John Virgo. The show includes a trick shot masterclass from the man himself and special guest snooker commentator and 1997 world champion Ken Doherty! During the show Jimmy & Ken will play a few frames and talk us through their illustrious career both on and off the table with John Virgo being his usual referee and commentator and also giving us an insight into everything from Jimmy’s 6 world championship runner up finishes, to his world seniors championship win!
