The Mill Marketing Brochure 2024/2025 Season

A LETTER FROM SALLY HUGHES & ADAM ROLSTON THE ARTISTIC DIRECTORS OF THE MILL

Over the past year, we’ve faced some of the toughest challenges in The Mill at Sonning Theatre’s 43-year history. Like so many theatres across the country, we’ve felt the impact of rising costs, shifting audience habits, and the responsibility of preserving a much-loved venue that receives no public funding.

beautifully presented à la carte menus, seasonal produce, and the same warm hospitality — without the queue.

Another milestone moment came with the national tour of DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY — our first ever Mill-originated production to travel the country. Taking the spirit of The Mill on the road was a thrilling achievement, and the response from audiences has been nothing short of inspiring. (You can read more about this exciting journey later in this brochure.) And we’re not stopping there. The future holds bold plans: new productions, world premieres, fresh partnerships, and a continued commitment

“THE FUTURE HOLDS BOLD PLANS: NEW PRODUCTIONS, WORLD PREMIERES, FRESH PARTNERSHIPS.”

But through every challenge, one thing has remained constant — your extraordinary support. This year marks the beginning of a new chapter for The Mill. We’re proud to share that a consortium of passionate supporters has come together to help secure the theatre’s future, ensuring that this unique space on the Thames continues to thrive for generations to come. Their commitment — and yours — gives us renewed hope and energy. Despite the hurdles, 2025 has given us much to celebrate. We began the year with our most successful production ever: WHITE CHRISTMAS . It snowed on stage well into January, and the joy of that production carried us through the winter blues. Audiences adored it, critics championed it, and our entire team took great pride in bringing it to life. February saw the launch of our brand-new table service restaurant, marking a major step forward in The Mill’s dining experience. After 43 years of buffet service, it was time for something fresh:

to ensuring The Mill remains a home for exceptional theatre, wonderful food, and shared community.

“THIS YEAR MARKS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE MILL.”

To everyone who has attended a show, shared a kind word, or stood by us in a time of both hardship and hope — thank you.

The Mill exists because of you. With heartfelt gratitude,
