The Michigan Council of Deliberation has had the pleasure of experiencing continuous prosperity within the various Valleys and Camps. In November, M ICHIGAN Sovereign Grand Inspector General Christopher Buck, 33°
seeing each degree administered was done so by a Sublime Prince. In addition, their Annual Widow’s Banquet was amazing and well attended. Those who attended, spoke on the love and warmth that was shared at this event. The Cradle to College program, led by SGIG Horace Jackson and GIG Karl D’Abreu Sr., found many successes as well. The program serves the Wayne County area, Detroit, Inkster, River Rouge, and Melvindale. This program has focused on providing resources for children to get scholarships, educational services, home services, and the ability to be prosperous. A shining example of the services provided, the program created a lane for a member of the program to practice their journalist skills on the local radio station. There are many examples of how the program tailors to the child’s goal and focuses.
we were able to hold our most recent Michigan Council of Deliberation in Lansing. During this time, Education, the foundational ideology of our Orient, was able to reign supreme. Not only did we work on the foundational knowledge of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, our Sublime Prince Education Committee was able to hold their Second Annual SP Symposium. This event was well attended by our Sublime Princes, led by four Sublime Princes, and advised by our Sovereign Grand Inspectors General and Grand Inspectors General. This year, we were able to see the resurgence of the Michigan Deliberation Scottish Rite Newsletter, which was first titled The Crown in 1974. The Crown publication was created by SGIG Edward B. Darnell, and is now under the leadership of GIG Joseph Wilson. Due to this, it has come back to the forefront!
Within the Valley of Lansing, Peninsular Consistory #44 had the pleasure of hosting several events and programs that aimed to engage and ignite the passion of the members. One of the major highlights of this past year was awarding the Past Commander-in-Chief plaque, which was awarded to their oldest living Past Commander-in-Chief GIG Willie Dillard, who served in the East from 1979- 1980. Also, #44 was able to successfully hold their annual church visitation with Second Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MI. #44 had the pleasure of having various members of the order receive awards and community service positions: 1st LT SP Dr. Hernando Flowers was named the Oakland County Executive’s Oakland Together 40 under 40, SP Daniel Mahoney was re-elected as Mayor of
Wolverine Consistory #6 (Detroit) continues to propagate the Rite by having an extremely successful year. They were able to advance over 17 brothers to the degree of Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret. Illustrious Commander-In-Chief SP Edward McIntosh led the efforts, and it was great
