The 103rd Annual Convocation of the Orient of Iowa Council of Deliberation, PHA (IACOD), was held on October 14, 2023, at the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite I OWA Sovereign Grand Inspector General Osumana V. Cassell, 33°

GIG Gordon Brewer, 33°(28), Orient of Illinois; also in attendance MWGM, Andrew Richardson, his elected Grand and Past Grand Officers of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Iowa.

Temple, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During the one-day event, two Sublime Princes - SP Josh Milam, 32°, #46, and SP Montrey Nelson, 32°, #46, were capped after advancing to the 32° of the Royal Secret. The capping ceremony was performed by MICIC, Illustrious Osumana V. Cassell, 33° (68), Deputy for Iowa prior to the Official opening of the 103rd Annual Convocation of the Orient of Iowa so that the new Fraters would participate in the 103rd Annual Convocation, rather than wait until the Annual Banquet as it has been customary to do. GIG Eddie N. Sauls III, 33°, Illustrious Past CIC for No. 46, opened an Occasional Consistory in due form, for the purpose of convening the 103rd Annual Convocation of the Iowa Council of Deliberation. GIG Sauls III, 33° (46), received MICIC, SGIG Cassell, 33° (68), welcoming him into his 103rd Annual Convocation of the IACOD (PHA), giving him the Sword of Authority (Excalibur). MICIC then gave a brief explanation on regrets from invited dignitaries of other Orients and Jurisdictions; MWGM Andrew Richardson, 32°, MWPHGL of Iowa, was then received. The two Consistories, #46 and #68 - the Valleys of Des Moines and Waterloo respectively conducted their annual elections with the following Commanders- In-Chief elected and installed: CIC – GIG Earl J. Harrison, 33° (68), and CIC – SP Saveno Seals, 32° (46). The Iowa Commanders of the Rite re-elected GIG Maurice Evans, 33° (46) as President. To climax the one-day Session, social hour started at 6:00 pm, and the 103rd Annual Banquet started at 7:00 pm. Distinguished guests attending were the Grand Worthy Matron, Sis/LL Charlene Upchurch-Taylor, of Electa Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA, State of Iowa and Jurisdiction, Inc. and her elected Grand and Past Grand Officers; SGIG Milton Jackson, 33°(28), and

Cassell, 33° During the Annual Banquet, The Orient of Iowa Lifetime Certificate of Achievement plaque was presented to a well deserving recipient – SP Corey Royster, 32° (46), for his Resoluteness and Continued Service to the IACOD and the United Supreme Council as a true and faithful Scottish Rite Mason. A Distinguish Service Award plaque was presented to SGIG Patrick L. Peacock, 33° (68), for his Outstanding, Dedicated and Committed Service, Leadership and Continued Support rendered to the Orient of Iowa during the Scottish Rite year. A presentation of the United Supreme Council Benevolent Foundation Student Aid Check was presented to our 2023 High School Graduate, Lydia G. Cassell, Thomas Jefferson High School, Cedar Rapids, IA.
