House Bill 855, by Representatives McClure & Berfield (companion Senate Bill 302, by Senator Boyd). The legislation amends chapter 466, Florida statutes, effective July 1,2024. The legislation enhances transparency, patient safety and accountability in dentistry by updating definitions, requirements and penalties related to telehealth and orthodontic treatments. It requires a dentist of record, defines dental service advertisement and requires disclaimers for dental telehealth. Penalties are established for failing to conduct in-person examination before orthodontic treatments and not providing emergency contact information.
