House Bill 1387, by Representatives Rizo & Silvers (companion Senate Bill 412, by Senator Garcia (I)). The legislation would have created section 429.924 and amended section 409.982, Florida Statutes. The legislation would have allowed adult day care centers to offer transportation services and ensure Medicaid managed care plans reimbursed them. It would have established continuing education requirements for adult day care center operators, mandating completion of an annual 8-hour course approved by the Department of Elder Affairs and offered by the Florida Adult Day Services Association.
House Bill 1173, by Representative Chaney (Companion Senate Bill 1254, by Senator Collins) The legislation would have amended multiple sections in 409, 466, Florida Statutes. Dental therapists provide mid-level dental care under dentist supervision. However, Florida doesn't issue licenses for dental therapists and limits the use of mobile dental units in Medicaid. The legislation would have regulated dental therapists, set licensure requirements and service parameters, with penalties for unauthorized practice. It would have authorized Medicaid to reimburse dental services provided in mobile units owned or contracted by health access settings or similar programs.
