Dental Care - FAILED (AARP Supported) House Bill 1177, by Representative Bell (companion Senate Bill 1000, by Senator Calatayud). The legislation would have amended section 409.906, Florida Statutes. The Florida Medicaid program provides state- and federally funded health coverage, including dental services, to low-income and disabled Floridians. The legislation would have authorized Medicaid reimbursement for dental services provided by a mobile dental unit contracting with a nonprofit community health center or a federally approved Head start center. Telehealth Prescribing - FAILED (AARP Supported)
Senate Bill 1232, by Senator Brodeur (companion House Bill 997, by Representative Gonzalez Pittman). The legislation would have amended section 456.44, Florida Statutes. The legislation would have expanded the conditions under which a telehealth provider may use telehealth to prescribe a controlled substance listed in Schedule II to include the treatment of a terminal condition or the treatment of cancer. A Schedule II substance has a high potential for abuse, a currently accepted but severely restricted medical use in treatment in the United States, and abuse may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence. Examples include cocaine and morphine. During the legislative session, the following votes were taken: Senate Health Policy (3/27).
