CONTINUOUS GROWTH & PROGRESS

package. Included will be donor cows and a few fall bred mature cows. These cows are still in the prime of their life and have been valuable producers in our program. Saturday morning starting at 10 we will have the 60 head Cutting Edge Heifer Sale featuring both open and bred heifers. We have several guest consignors and contributors that have brought us among their best and appreciate those cattle that they are bringing. Following that, we go straight into the Grass Time event featuring over 40 head from our operation that had been selected to go into our herd, but we have decided to offer them to the public. This will be an opportunity to buy nice open and bred heifers in volume as we will run 3 head into the ring and the winning bidder will have opportunity to pick one or sweep the pen. This will be an exciting opportunity for purebred or commercial customers to put together a nice string of registered heifers in volume! We believe that all of these heifers mated to our calving ease sire lineup can produce high end range bulls or valuable heifers. We will be glad to help in that phase with the buyers. In our commercial female offering of 600 head, you will find a lot of variety with many Brangus as well as Brangus Super Baldy, F1 Black and F1 Tigerstripe. We will have over 400 pair with some of the calves being out of AI sires. In addition we will have 70 early fall calving heifers plus 120 open Brangus females ready to breed. Please take time to look at our feedlot data page to see more about Cavender Ranches entry in purchasing our customers feeder cattle. We have a feedlot partner Nextgen that we together will be attempting to bid on and buy many of our customers cattle. This will be our commitment to add value. The ultimate goal is to see herds using our bulls, whether Brangus or Charolais bring deserved high value on their calf crops. Hopefully you can join us Friday, April 26 for the Mature Cow Sale followed by appreciation dinner and stay for our Saturday full day events. If you have any questions please feel free to contact myself, Mark Cowan, Todd Harvey, our ranch staff of Justin Matejka and Dustin Kennedy plus our sale consultants Joe Fuller and Garrett Thomas on any questions and info needed.

N ancy and I would like to invite everyone to our 16th Annual Spring Female Sale. We are having welcome widespread rainfall in most areas of the country while seeing near record prices in calf crops, feeder cattle as well as great salvage value on slaughter cattle. We have an excellent set of quality performance oriented cattle in both the purebred and commercial offering. We are very enthusiastic about our offering and optimistic for the cattle industry for the coming years. In the Registered offering, you will find the type and kind that can produce bulls that are in high demand by commercial cattlemen. Our bull buyers are discriminating and looking hard at data as well as type and kind. They want it all and and these females are poised to go out and produce valuable future genetics backed by plenty of feedlot data coming from our fed cattle operation. We have three parts to our registered sale, first the Mature Cow Dispersal of all F and older fall calving cow calf pairs as a 3N1

Sincerely,

Joe Cavender, Cavender Brangus

RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF ACCELERATED GENETIC PROGRESS

Welcome to our annual Spring Female Production Sale here at Cavender Ranches. We are delighted you have taken the time to join us either in person or on DV Auctions. We think we have a power packed lineup of females to offer coming from Cavender Ranches and our friends and cooperators in both the registered and commercial portions of this sale. We certainly want to thank all those participating with us in this great offering. The quality you have provided is second to none.

will also be offered and you can see their productivity. We will be splitting most of them in the ring and we would welcome the new owners of the bull calves to put them in our gain test and market them with us.

We will have our annual Customer Appreciation dinner to follow.

Saturday morning, we will lead off the activities with our Cutting-Edge Female Sale. These are bred and open heifers and a couple of first calf pairs from us and friends and are the kind we believe will propel programs forward in the beef industry. They are classy in their style, are our freshest genetics and present some of the most impactful performance values that can be produced in the Brangus breed. Following the Cutting-Edge Sale, we will offer some really nice bred and open registered females in volume in our Grass Time Sale. They will be offered in groups of 3. Customers will have the opportunity to pick one or sweep the ring. All performance values and pedigrees will be noted and the cattle will be sorted into uniform groups. After lunch on Saturday, we will offer 600 commercial females sorted into uniform groups. It will be our largest offering ever of pairs with over 400 to choose from, many with breed leading AI sired calves at side. We will also sell a select set of powerful open heifers and about 80 Fall bred heifers. We hope you can join us Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27th at Cavenders Neches River Ranch for a spectacular offering of registered and commercial females. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way.

MARK COWAN CAVENDER RANCHES MARKETING & CUSTOMER SERVICE

This spring we have seen record prices for feeder calves. The demand for quality beef has never been greater. Our focus on producing cattle capable of impacting the Beef Industry is equally keen. Our cattle are more than just a “pretty face”. They are backed by years of data and thousands of cattle harvested. We continue to be consumers of our own product in our commercial herd and to collect the feedlot data necessary to guide our decisions in the Registered Cattle Industry, but we will never ignore phenotype and structural soundness. The cattle selling are able to produce the kind of stock bulls in such demand here at Cavender Ranches, high quality, structurally sound with the kind of numbers to move the industry forward. We are changing it up a little in this year’s female sale. Friday at 5:00 PM we are selling all the F model fall 3N1’s in our herd. These cows are 5 ½ to 6 years old and in the prime of their life as Justin Matejka says. They are the cows that we have built our foundation on. We have daughters in the herd and they have a lifetime of productivity in front of them. All of their calves

GENERAL INFORMATION

CATTLE LOAD OUT Cattle will be available for load out immediately after the sale and proper settlement has been made on purchases. If you wish to loadout at a later date please note that when you check-out. Arrangements can then be made to have your cattle ready when you arrive. SAVE ON SHIPPING AND HANDLING You can save shipping and handling charges by picking up semen that you will need for your fall or spring breeding season at the Cavender Ranches Sale at Cavender’s Neches River Ranch. Representatives from either Cavender Ranches or Integrated Breeders will be available to fill your orders. We would ask that you keep your orders to goblet increments of 5’s or 10’s so that we can avoid excessive handling of semen. Please contact Mark Cowan at 903-495-4522 or Todd Harvey at 386- 288-8059 to place your order prior to the sale to assure we have enough semen on hand and available on sale day. SALE ORDER The cattle will sell in sale order. We will have a printed sale order prior to the sale. Please note that commercial females will not be going through the ring and will be presented on video. GENETIC CONDITION POLICY Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.

TRUSTED PERFORMANCE INFORMATION We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to help positively impact their bottom line. We will not compromise the integrity of our data. Our utmost goal is to provide the information that will successfully identify the genetics most needed in your particular operation. The information provided by the IBBA was provided at weaning and yearling by the breeder for computation. We believe in EPD’s, but fully realize that they are only as good as the information provided to the association. Inaccurate weights and faulty contemporary groups lead to poor information and bad selection decisions. Please realize that these cattle were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another. A wide range of environments are represented in this offering and thus have affected those weights, plus different management comes into play, i.e. creep fed vs. not creep fed. Within herd weights and ratios were good when that was the only information we had. However, EPD’s are a much better indicator of genetic potential and are the only way across herd comparisons can be made. Also, we have listed the current non-parent Brangus breed average EPD’s in the catalog for your reference and comparison on how individual lots compare to the average of the breed in any trait. ULTRABLACK The Ultrablack program has been a major success for us and an in-demand product for our commercial customers. Please note that we have noted the UB1 cattle in this catalog with a green highlight and the UB2 with a blue highlight. We have not however made note of those females that may be carrying the service of an Angus sire or Ultrablack sire. While viewing this offering please keep this in

mind so that you are aware of what these female lots are bred to. MAINTENANCE AFTER THE SALE Cavender’s Neches River Ranch will work with customers on delivery of cattle in an effort to have the cattle delivered to customers as soon as possible after the sale. However, if you are not ready for the cattle at this time we will maintain the cattle at the ranch for a period of time until you are ready for them. A nominal fee of $3.50 per day will be charged plus any veterinarian charges incurred will be billed. Cattle will be maintained on a growing ration in grass traps. Cattle become the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the sale. Cavender Ranches is not responsible for insurance costs or death. TRUCKING At the conclusion of the sale or as soon as possible following the sale if purchases are made via video or sight unseen agreement; please notify the sales staff as to specific instructions about cattle delivery. If you request our assistance the Cavender Ranches staff will make every effort to help coordinate the most reliable and economical trucking available. Trucking expense will be the responsibility of the purchaser except on purchases of 10 or more bulls. Please see Free Delivery to Central Points offer. If you prefer to make your own arrangements Mike Cox Trucking will be available sale day to discuss your needs or we can place you in contact with other reliable truckers. Please note that the animals you purchase become your responsibility at time of purchase. Cavender Ranches nor any of the breeders involved in this sale take responsibility for animals that may be injured in transport. Insurance is available for those who would desire that coverage.

GENOMICALLY ENHANCED EPD’s

EPDs Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries. Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease. Weaning Weight (WW) EPD predicts preweaning growth potential. Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential. Milk EPD predicts the maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors. Total Maternal (TM) also, called M&G EPD predicts weaning weight of calves from a bull’s daughters. Scrotal Circumference (SC) EPD predicts not only testicular size of male progeny but also daughters onset of puberty. Terminal Index (TERM) combines birth weight, weaning weight, milk production, post wean gain, ribeye area, marbling, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above

the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers. Fertility Index (FERT) combines heifer pregnancy, stayability, days to first calving, mature cow weight, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers. ULTRASOUND EPDs Ribeye Area (REA) EPD predicts total muscle. Intramuscular Fat (IMF) EPD predicts % of intramuscular fat which is highly correlated to marbling. *REA and FT are primary components of USDA YG and marbling is the primary component of USDA QG. PERFORMANCE Individual performance data is provided as supplementary information as EPDs provide more reliable evaluation of genetic differences of animals. Actual Birth Weight (BW) are reported. Weaning Weight (WW) are adjusted to 205 days. Yearling Weight (YW) are adjusted to 365 days. Scrotal Circumference (SC) is adjusted to 365 days.

Average Daily Gain (ADG) is a measure of growth rate on a high energy diet. It is positively associated with feed efficiency. Ribeye Areas (REA) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. Intramuscular Fat (IMF) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. IMF is highly correlated to marbling. Brangus EPDs are calculated by the Livestock Genetic Services and are part of a program called the National Cattle Evaluation (NCE). EPD PERCENTILE RANKINGS Individual ranking relative to the entire breed population on a specific trait, represented in the form of a percentage, with 1% being best and 99% being worst. DISPOSITION SCORING In the bull portion of this catalog we have included a disposition score for every Brangus & Ultrablack bull selling. 5 stars being the best and 1 being the worst. Please note the explanation of our scoring system below and contact Cavender Ranches with any questions you may have.

CUTTING EDGE FEMALES

These heifers with Cutting-Edge genetics come directly from our replacement heifers. Our friends consigning have done the same. You will find phenotypically powerful females with as much genetic reach available anywhere in the Brangus breed. The open heifers are truly impressive and the bred heifers are equally wonderful and are carrying the service of some very powerful up and coming young herd sires. You will also find two young pairs with proof positive on the ground in their ability to produce. In short it is a Cutting-Edge Offering and one you will not want to miss.

Hugo is breeding his tail off as we love the low birthweights, great dispositions, deep bodied, easy fleshing kind that light up the Ultrasound machine with tremendous IMF and REA. On top of that, we think he will leave a legacy of super productive brood cows....time to “Take the Hugo Road”! 23 GMW MS DIRECT LINE 541L6 R10540577 Polled Gen: 3 3/9/23 PV AI Great Mark Western Open Heifer VF-OAKS ONLINE 918Y3 SUHN’S MISS NORTH STAR 30A SUHN’S BUSINESS LINE 30D26
