officer who traveled with him on his missions. Eventually his plane was shot down by the enemy and Dick Hjorth was with the Lord! His brief and glorious life challenges us to do what we can to fill the GAP, also. Time does not permit us to tell of other famous sons, such as Charles E. Fuller, Donald Grey Barnhouse, Percy B. Crawford and many more. Here are highlights about a few members of the 1945 graduating class: One young man, dfter giving a personal testimony to every member of the company in which he was em ployed, from the president to the janitor, was led to the Bible Institute. He has SURVEYED THE GAP of the mission field and is ready to carry the message of God’s grace to the lost millions of China. Another accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour at the age of twelve. Early in life, he SURVEYED THE GAP and saw the need of Christian musi cians. After securing a Bachelor of Music degree at Biola, and advanced music training in a city college, he was still unsettled. After consider able struggle, he laid his life upon the altar of service for the preaching of the Gospel; he graduates from the Seminary course of the Bible Institute to go wherever the Lord may lead. One of the number was a barber. One day he spoke to a customer in the barber chair about the salvation of his soul. Later this man made ar rangements to pay all the barber’s ex penses while the latter was in Bible school. Another young man, was endowed with artistic and musical talent. While he was in his third year of the Otis Art Institute where several scholarships had been given him, the Lord spoke to him of His claim upon his life. He was led to Biola to train for Christian service. Some have SURVEYED THE GAP while still in school. God led one couple to start a Sunday school in a War Housing area. Eighty children are attending that Sunday school! The graduates of 1945 have SUR VEYED THE GAP and are doing some thing about it. Some are going to foreign fields as missionaries, some are entering pastorates at home, some have been appointed chaplains. They face the challenge of the GAP, with hearts that are full of love for Christ, minds alert to the needs of the world, and with courage to take the mes sage of salvation to those who have not yet heard it. Pray for them.

—a wish. However, we prefer the words of the Author of Life, our Lord Jesus Christ: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Life is a walk with Christ who is “the Way, the truth, and the Life.” The Bible Institute of Los Angeles continually sets before its students the challenge of a lost world; these students throughout the years have SURVEYED THE GAP and have an swered the call to stand in that GAP. Years ago, God touched the life of a young man working on a farm in Canada. It was his custom, often, to read THE KING’S BUSINESS, offi- cial magazine of the Bible Institute. As he did so, God laid the burden of preparation for a life of service upon his heart. He gathered his small re sources together and came to Los An geles, arriving with scarcely enough money for registration! Now he, as Dr. K. Owen White, pastor of the g r e a t Metropolitan Baptist Church of Washington, D. C., is well known! Another young man, president of the student body of Lincoln High School, Los Angeles, was the only one with sufficient courage to begin student meetings with prayer. He was so 'unusually adapted to the study of science that the faculty secured a Yale scholarship for him. This he refused because God had given him a vision of the GAP. Instead, he attended Moody Bible Institute and the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. Irwin Moon is now famous throughout America for his “Sermons from Science.” At the World’s Fair on Treasure Island they were voted the most popular ex hibit. Thousands of souls have been saved through these messages. Another SURVEYED THE GAP of China. However, before he could com plete his missionary preparation, the war intervened, and he enlisted in the Air Corps. After receiving his wings in the United States, he was shipped to the Asiatic theater of war. While stationed in China, he SURVEYED THE GAP at closer range, being made provisional chaplain of his divi sion. While off duty, he preached for the China Inland Mission through an interpreter to a group of lepers, six of whom accepted Christ as Saviour. He also led to the Lord a fine Chinese
