He lived down h ere on earth . Our story says Jesu s came to visit th e little town of N azareth where he lived as a child, and on Sunday He w ent to the synagogue, or church, opened the Bible and read to th e people, so we see Jesus, too, went to th e housp of God His F a th e r on this, th e best day of th e week. At ano ther tim e Jesus was in another town, and on Sunday He went to church, and Jesus saw a man th e re whose hand was w ithered so th a t he could not use it. ‘Now Jesu s felt very sorry for th is man, and when th e people saw Jesus stop and look a t the man w ith the w ithered hand, they watched Him to see w hether He would heal him on Sunday. Jesus spoke to th e man and asked him to stand fo rth .. Then He asked th e people who were watching Him, whether it was rig h t to do good on Sunday, the Lord’s Day, or to do evil? But they did n o t answer Him. Jésus then asked the man to stretch fo rth his hand: and his hand was made whole as the other. By th is kind deed to the man, Jesus was showing us th a t it is rig h t to be kind and helpful to those who are sick or need our help in any way. Jesus was telling them by th is kind act to th e man, it is rig h t to do good on the Lord’s Day. There are a g reat many people in th e world who work on th e Lord’s Day ju st th e same as they do on th e re st of th e days of the week. Now God has given us six days, and He w ants u s to rest from our work on th e one day, for He knows our bodies need th e re st from work, and it is a wonderful re st to go to God’s house on His day and learn more about Him. God made th e n igh t so we could get into our nice little beds each night, close our eyes and go to sleep and forget all about our work or being tired , and while we were fast asleep, our bodies were resting, so when morning comes, we ju st feel so fine and rested, we are ready for an other day’s work and play. Then the main reason He gave us th e Sunday, is because He w ants us to come to His house, th e church, on th a t day to wor ship Him by singing our praises to Him, talk ing to Him in prayer, and listening to our teachers as they tell us th e won derful stories from th e Bible, God’s Word. J u st th ink , He has given us six days of the week for our work and all th e things th a t we need to do, and He h as ju st asked us to keep th is one day for Him. One of th e boys said he liked Sunday th e best of all the days in th e week because his mother had tim e to to ll him Bible sto rie s., O w hat a happy day Sunday is for us.
