this precious portion of God’s Word. We do not believe the one, however, which suggests that these are Chris tians .who have gone to glory and who are now looking over the battle ments of heaven to see what we are doing down here. Heaven is a perfect ly delightful place, If those now with the Lord could look down and see the shape the world is in, to say nothing of our own faults and shortcomings, how could they be happy up there? The Scriptural view is that these witnesses are not viewers but those who have testified to the truth of God’s Word. We need to observe the context and see the “cloud” in the pre vious chapter. It does include our loved ones as well. Many of these have lived and died as martyrs for the cause of Christ. Let us, therefore, in our generation, serve Him with all the zeal and fervor at our command even as these did in their day. Q . Redding, California. “In view of Luke 18:19, can the word ‘good’ be used correctly when speaking of Christian people?” A. Our Lord Jesus was telling the ruler, “You called me by a certain ad jective as one of My attributes? Do you really mean it, or are you just using so many words?” As far as Christians are concerned, remember no one is good in the absolute sense except our God. We could not use the word in the same degree as we do of the Lord. not sinless creatures, however, but righteous or honorable men. Q . Seattle, Washingtdh — “Does God hate sin or merely the creator of sin, Satan?” A. Certainly God hates sin. When we use the word “hate” in connection with the Lord, however, we must keep in mind that it is quite a different meaning than “hate” in relationship to ourselves. God’s hatred is holy and His wrath is righteous. He loves the sinner but He hates sin. The Bible does not specifically say that He hates Satan. The inference, however, is cer tainly clear. Q . San Fernando, California— “I have al- ways heard people say that in Acts 10, the account of Peter opening up the door of the Gospel to the Gentiles, was through the household of Corne lius. In Acts 8, however, we read of Philip preaching to the Ethiopian eunuch. Why don’t we consider Phil ip’s preaching to the Ethiopian as the opening of the Gospel to the Gen tiles?” A. In Acts 2 the apostle Peter won derfully preached the Gospel of grace to the Jews of that day. A great num ber of them were saved.
