be a true follower of Him, we should want that same spirit to motivate and to permeate us. Our cross is not Cal vary. That was a once for all act of grace that will never be repeated. This was His finished work. But each one of us has an area of denial. It may be a personal burden or trial. There can often be great hardships in the Christian life. This is the cross which we are to take up. Let us make cer tain, however, that the cross is not one of our own making, such as can occur when a Christian marries an unbeliever. Q . Tucson, Arizona — “Is it wrong for a mother to put her family before church work?” A. We can say an emphatic, NO, to this question! In the world this is one of the reasons for so-called “juvenile delinquency.” Often times it is rather “parental delinquency.” No wonder there are so many problems in the church when some mothers are busy doing everything but taking care of their own families. Nobody else will do it. It is a God-given privilege and responsibility which we must fulfill. Q . Sacramento, California — “When did the pillar of cloud leave the children of Israel? The manna ceased with the first harvest but when did the cloud stop?” A. It, like the manna, had a certain objective. This was to lead the people of Israel in their wanderings through the wilderness until they came to Ca naan. THE CHRISTMAS STORY Seek Him not in the manger, Nor yet in the dusty streets; Bow not low at some man-made cross In search of the pierced feet. The manger has served its purpose. In the highway where He stood, And the old rugged cross on Calvary's hill That was bathed in His precious blood. But the babe who lay in the manger Is the man of the dusty way; And the Christ Who hung on Calvary's hill, Is the Lord Who lives today. This is the Christmas story: That the God Who ''so loved'' gave; He sent His Son to redeem the world, And His Son from sin can save. Remember the symbols of Christmas, The star and each precious thing; But bring the treasures of your soul To the feet of the living King. — W. A. Wood

cept this by faith and revel in the magnificence of such a glorious truth. The story is told of a man, having very little knowledge, who wanted to join the church. When asked to explain the Trinity, he held up three fingers and said simply, “Three in One, and One in Three. And the One in the middle died for me.” 2 4
