PEANUTS TAKING OVER THE WORLD If you’ve noticed recently that you’re seeing “Peanuts” characters everywhere, there might be a reason for that! According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal, a global merchandise strategy built on collaborations with fashion companies has given Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Pigpen, and the rest of the gang new life. The “Peanuts” fashion push started in the 1990s. These characters began popping up on several high-fashion brands, all the way down to H&M and other low-cost brands. Through its collaborations, “Peanuts” generated $152.2 million in royalty revenue in 2021.

And the “Peanuts” takeover is just beginning. “Peanuts” recently brokered a deal with Apple TV+ to create original specials, which is sure to introduce new audiences to the brand. This is likely to kickoff a bunch of new collaborations with other brands. For example, in 2015, the brand launched partnerships with Vans, Gap, and Gucci after the release of “The Peanuts Movie.” Some fans have asked what would Charles Schulz, creator of the comic strip, think of this new “Peanuts” merchandising powerhouse? Schulz’s TV special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” certainly had an anti-commercialism message, leading some to believe that Schulz would disapprove. But others point out that Schulz’s personal earnings during his lifetime were close to $1 billion, so he was not exactly against making money. At $1 billion-plus, he didn’t seem to be anti-business. Either way, if you’re a “Peanuts” fan, you’ve got something to look forward to in the future!

EXPERIENCE EXPLOSIVE HISTORYAT NATM

My family and I recently visited the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas … and we had a blast! The National Atomic Testing Museum (NATM) is a national science, history and educational institution that tells the story of America’s nuclear weapons testing program at the Nevada Test Site. NATM is one of a handful of private national museums and showcases some of the rarest of artifacts relating to the nation’s atomic testing program. Nowhere else can you see a large nuclear reactor that was used in the development of the nuclear rocket and the first air-to-air missile, Genie. Personal atomic weapons that were developed to use in place of conventional weapons such as the Backpack Nuke and the Davy Crockett Weapon System (recoil-less gun) are placed throughout 8,000 square feet of museum exhibits.

NATM visitors will:

Learn about world events leading up to the establishment of the Nevada Test Site.

Learn about the progression of the test site from above-ground tests to underground tests and non-nuclear activities. See a replica of the Control Point where the countdown was conducted before each nuclear detonation.

Experience a Ground Zero Theater simulation of an above-ground test.

Reflect on the history of atomic testing and its relevance to national security and international stability.

Check it out; I highly recommend it!

BRAIN WORK

Under Nevada law, an injured worker who travels to a medical provider’s office (either more than 20 miles one way or for a total of more than 40 miles during a week) is permitted to submit for reimbursement of their mileage; see NAC 616C.150. That reimbursement rate is the same rate the IRS sets for mileage reimbursement for that particular year. In 2022, the standard mileage rate set by the IRS is 56 cents per mile. 4 Vinyl Storage Solutions to Protect Your Aesthetic

VINYL IS FINAL? IT CAN BE! STORAGE TIPS TO KEEP YOUR RECORDS SAFE

In addition to offering great sound, records provide a cozy aesthetic. Before you throw your records on any old shelf, consider these expert tips for vinyl storage and protection! COVER UP Vinyl is very fragile. To prevent scratches or damage, store your vinyl records in plastic sleeves. Outer sleeves are great options for older record cover art or those that you don’t listen to often. STAY UPRIGHT One vinyl record only weighs about 5 ounces, but when stacked on top of each other, that weight adds up to a lot, creating great pressure for records at the bottom of the stack. Instead, store your records upright like library books or in a cascading pattern. MAINTAIN TEMPERATURES Keep your home’s humidity low and heat levels below 70 degrees F to protect from warping. Furthermore, a wooden shelf will attract less dust and static electricity. Light can also be damaging to records, so store your vinyl away from windows and UV lamps.
