New executives at the Legion
VKH Nature Society plant sale
Patti Hennesey, president of the Vankleek Hill Nature Society, sits here with Stuart Robertson, Michael Mazur, Lucia Trommer, Mary Higgenson and Armin Trommer during the annual fundraising event May 14, held just outside of the Scotia Bank, who sponsors the event. The society did very well selling most of their stock of trees and plants. Funds raised go towards activities such as guest speakers, a new Osprey nest in Hawkesbury, and sponsoring a bursary for a Vankleek Hill Collegiate student. Committee members are looking forward to increasing membership this year and assisting veterans. Members are asking the community for support by joining and participating in events. The Vankleek Hill Horticultural Society drew crowds to their annual plant sale fundraiser on May 21. President Mary Higginson and Diane Bourgault were among some of the people manning the tables on Thursday. Funds raised during the event go towards special events for the society, as well as donations to local schools, the Mill Park garden and the annual children’s show.
