campaign for legacy christian academy

As we look at culture and see the lies and despair that are being offered to our children, a Christian education at Legacy is needed now more than ever. Today, young people are struggling to stand firm in their faith; it takes courage to be a Christian in the current, shifting culture. Our responsibility as a Christian school, and our steadfast commitment, is to equip students biblically for the journey that is ahead of them. Ultimately, our building and any future expansions are just tools to reach students for Christ and provide quality learning experiences and discipleship opportunities for our children. I believe God is calling the Legacy community to lift up our eyes and seek the Lord together to meet the current needs of our students and the demands of Christian education. Legacy is launching the Ascending Together Campaign, a $10.5M 2-year campaign that will fund new academic facilities, construct state-of-the-art classrooms, provide enhanced learning opportunities and programs, increase tuition assistance, create capacity for more students, lay stepping stones for the future, and build a strong financial base from which to operate with confidence. I pray that the Ascending Together Campaign is a blessing for students because of the profound educational impact it will have on them, and I pray through this campaign you experience God working in your life and in the community at Legacy. We invite you to join us on the ascent! To God be the glory as we ascend together,

“ i lift up my eyes to the hills. from where does my help come? my help comes from the lord, who made heaven and earth.

Every day, Legacy seeks to be rooted in the foundation of Christ and His Word and invest in and transform student lives. Students are being prepared through student experiences and opportunities, both spiritual and academic, to courageously face the emerging challenges of being a Christian in an ever-shifting and secular culture. Legacy partners with parents to make this happen, and faculty and staff commit to prayer as they invest wholly in each student, pushing them to become biblically grounded disciples of Christ; God-glorifying, Spirit-led worshippers; intellectually prepared, accomplished learners who are morally disciplined students of character; and faithful and courageous servant leaders.

beginning the ascent: the comprehensive campaign

Legacy’s Courageous Faith Strategic Plan intentionally increases student opportunities, expands our Kingdom impact, and lays stepping stones for future generations of Legacy students. Ascending Together is the first campaign in the strategic plan that will include adding new facilities while renovating critical existing spaces, enhancing student experiences, and securing financial stability for the future.

Our total campaign goal is $10,500,000 and it encompasses three critical areas at Legacy:

NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING FUND $8,100,000 LEGACY FUND $900,000 PLANNED (ESTATE) GIVING $1,500,000

It has become clear during strategic planning that the time is NOW to step forward in courageous faith.

opportunity #1 NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING: $8,100,000 Legacy wishes to immediately begin construction on the New Academic Building as described in the developing Master Site Plan. This expansion will provide: • A 3-STORY, 29,000 SQUARE-FOOT BUILDING • 12 STATE-OF-THE-ART CLASSROOMS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL • SIX CLASSROOMS ROUGHED-IN FOR FUTURE HIGH SCHOOL USE IN THE LOWER LEVEL • FUTURE ENGINEERING LAB FOR HIGH SCHOOL • TWO SCIENCE LABS • COMMONS AND FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACES FOR GRADES 5-6 AND 7-8 • ADDITIONAL COLLABORATIVE LEARNING SPACES FOR INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALTIES ACROSS ALL GRADE LEVELS • REMODELED ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOMS • A MOVE-IN READY FACILITY FOR STUDENTS AS SOON AS WINTER 2023-24 The developing Master Site Plan could include several other significant additions such as a field house, redesigned athletic fields, a new campus entrance, dedicated student support center, a remodeled performing arts theater, a new lunchroom, and community gathering spaces.

The New Academic Building is the necessary first step toward this plan.

program enhancement with growth There are already remarkable programs taking place at Legacy during the school year. Students can participate in successful athletic programs, dynamic fine arts programs, and life-preparing academics. However, additional students and revenue will positively impa ct our current students by offering new experiences and opportunities like…

AN INTERNATIONAL SENIOR MISSION TRIP COVERED BY TUITION

AN ESTABLISHED INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

ADDING ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMS, AND FINE ARTS CLASSES

ELEVATING CURRENT PROGRAMS TO BE MORE EXPERIENTIAL, SOPHISTICATED, AND COMPETITIVE

The last five years of student growth have allowed Legacy to add over twenty new academic classes and launch our engineering/innovation/robotics program as well as our business program across all divisions!

better educational experiences Similar to program enhancement, additional space will inevitably provide better academic experiences. This three-story expansion will allow elementary, middle, and high school to further shift into their uniquely designed areas of the building which fit their developmental needs. Additional students and revenue have already positively impacted our current students by allowing us to hire… MATH AND READING ACADEMIC INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS TO SUPPORT K-8 STUDENTS IN MATH AND READING GROWTH

PRINCIPALS AT EVERY DIVISION FOCUSED ON CREATING UNIQUE, AGE-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCES

The New Academic Building is the critical first step toward the developing Master Site Plan to enhance existing programs and improve educational experiences for our current students. the new academic building

NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING

THE NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING will be situated on the West side of our current facility.

THE 1 ST AND 2 ND FLOOR of the new addition will feature a middle school space uniquely designed to meet the developmental needs of middle school students.

THE LOWER LEVEL will feature roughed-in classrooms for future high school use.

the new academic building

AN ESTABLISHED MIDDLE SCHOOL COMMONS will allow students to interact with and connect relationally with one another on campus.

THE DEDICATED MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE LABS will give our students the cutting-edge spaces they need to understand the world God has created.

A FUTURE ENGINEERING LAB will further elevate the robotics and engineering program and promote an atmosphere of hands-on, technical learning.

THE UPPER TWO STORIES OF THE EXPANSION WILL INCLUDE NATURALLY LIT CLASSROOMS designed for flexible learning spaces with collapsible glass walls to enable more collaboration and team teaching.

REMODELING ONE HIGH SCHOOL AND THREE ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS with the New Academic Building will create larger classroom spaces to promote a successful learning environment for each student.

our growth The Board has determined, through prayerful consideration and educational research, that Legacy can best meet the relational, academic, and spiritual needs of each student while elevating the mission of the school by growing incrementally to 1,050 students with each grade level three sections wide. Additional students and revenue have already positively impacted our current students by allowing us to hire…

A STUDENT LIFE COORDINATOR AT EVERY DIVISION THAT IS SPECIFICALLY INVESTING IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND SPIRITUAL FORMATION AT THAT AGE LEVEL

MORE SCHOOL COUNSELORS TO HELP WITH SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES FACED BY STUDENTS

In order to continue our mission, we are committed to further…

PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR HIGHER COMPENSATION TO RETAIN AND TRAIN OUR EXCELLENT FACULTY AND STAFF We treasure our culture, and that is not going to change. Faculty and staff will continue to invest daily in each student’s spiritual and academic life while partnering with parents and pointing our community to Christ.

“ i am a community person but since we are split between three schools because our oldest and youngest are not able to attend legacy, i can only invest minimally in this wonderful community. in spite of our split family, i have a peace about things because legacy is so christ-centered in all that they do. Jenny DePoint (Legacy Parent)

recognizing the demand and honoring our split families There are an overwhelming number of families in our own community desperately waiting and praying that their children can experience the missional impact of Legacy Christian Academy. Families are flocking to have God’s Word and Legacy’s life-giving culture as the foundation of their children’s educational experience. Sadly, many of the families in the waiting pools are current Legacy families who have one child here with another child attending elsewhere because there is no room. It is time to ensure that our families can wholly attend Legacy together.

stepping stones for the future FUTURE NEEDS: The New Academic Building is a stepping stone toward the developing Master Site Plan; we can’t remodel existing portions of the building until we have adequate space to educate students during that process. This addition will allow us to better meet the learning and developmental needs of our current students while future remodels and construction of new wings are underway. INFLATION: Legacy has prayerfully considered the timeline for this campaign, and there is clear urgency to step forward in courageous faith right now. With both inflation and building costs on the rise, each day that passes, quite literally, increases the cost of building this addition; if we don’t move forward now, it may delay or prohibit doing so in the future. Now is the time to financially invest in our building; we must capitalize on current costs in an ever-shifting economy. INCREASED REVENUE: Increased enrollment ensures increased revenue, which leads to retaining and recruiting high-caliber faculty, adding student enrichment experiences, enhancing academic programs, and increasing the financial stability for our school. The Board will continue to faithfully and courageously steward our money to ensure we have a stable budget and strong financial plans so that a high-quality LCA education remains available for families in our region. This addition will further secure the future of Legacy financially, thus securing our children’s ability to know and love the Lord.

other critical ways to invest in legacy

opportunity #2 THE LEGACY FUND: $900,000 The Legacy Fund exists to invest in our students, faculty, and staff. While tuition covers operational costs, charitable giving toward the Legacy Fund enables us to enhance, expand, and elevate our school programs directly, providing an even better educational experience than what tuition alone can provide. The Legacy Fund better equips faculty and provides them with enriching pedagogical experiences to bring into their classrooms. Scholarships are also awarded through the Legacy Fund, ensuring that private Christian education is attainable, accessible, and affordable for mission- appropriate families. opportunity #3 PLANNED (ESTATE) GIVING: $1,500,000 Legacy’s Endowment exists to provide financial stability and longevity as we face a culture that stands directly against Legacy’s mission. The Board desires to establish and secure LCA’s future to serve future generations and impact the Kingdom beyond our time here. Investing in the Endowment means we are doing the work now for the next generation – leaving a legacy for those to come.

if we want to continue to see legacy grow and thrive as a school, while still providing incredible opportunities for our students and doing kingdom work, it takes additional investment. jen niska (legacy parent and school board vice president)
