Greif Receives Food Safety Certification At Louisville, KY Plant Delaware, Ohio based Greif announced that its Louisville, Kentucky, corrugated bulk packaging plant has achieved Safety Quality Foods Certification (SQF) and three years of zero harm. “Achieving their SQF certification was a significant un- dertaking requiring dedication and determination by the entire Louisville team,” the company said in a release. “To them, the certification is a testament to their com- mitment to quality and safety and a reflection of our ded- ication to meeting and exceeding industry regulations while continuing to build trust with customers and stake- holders.” SQF is a food safety standard recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which sets standards to guar- antee the safety of food products across the supply chain. This certification allows Greif to demonstrate com- pliance with GFSI’s rigorous requirements for food safe- ty management systems. The company said that all col- leagues, from top management to frontline workers, help promote and practice safe work habits. On Feb 8, the plant achieved three years of zero harm incidents, reaching 875,000 hours since the last medical incident. Through this, the plant has met the requirements of the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) and has been recertified as a SHARP site. The plant employs over 160 people, 30 percent starting within the past year. The leadership has invested in safety training for new employees and ongoing safety training for long-time employees. “We are not a safety-first location; we are a safety-al- ways location,” said Scott Ford, Sr. Safety Health and Envi- ronmental Coordinator.
