A NOTE FROM SYLVIA April in Minnesota — my hyacinths, daffodils and tulips will soon be poking through the dirt, and all of us have a bit more “spring” in our step. In addition to longer hours of daylight, bits of green everywhere and hints of warmth in the air, we have a lot to celebrate in April, including Earth Day. TPT has two exciting announcements in support of Earth Day. First, America Outdoors with Baratunde Thurston will be returning this summer for a second season. This series is produced by TPT for PBS, and we are deep in production on new episodes. You can learn more about the series and our incredible National Production team on pages 6-7. In addition, the second season of our local companion series, Outside Chance , is available on Passport and at tpt.org/outdoors . Outside Chance is hosted by yogi, emcee, rapper, and outdoor enthusiast Chance York. In each episode, Chance and area experts take on new adventures in the outdoor playgrounds of Minnesota. The final episodes of this great digital series drop later this month — just in time for your own spring adventures in the outdoors. We also have an outstanding programming lineup this month, including Freshwater , a local independent documentary. Freshwater dives into the cold waters of Minnesota’s Lake Superior, sharing the stories of North Shore surfers and the importance of our waterways as critical habitats and essential resources. The film will premiere April 5 at 8 p.m. on TPT 2. More Earth Day and outdoor programming is highlighted throughout the magazine. Finally, on Monday evenings at 8 p.m. on TPT 2, tune in to watch six weeks of Minnesota Experience fan favorites. This master class in Minnesota history began with Citizen on March 27, and continues throughout April with Steamship America , Flour Power , Becoming Big League , Co-op Wars , and Baldies , all as a lead up to a brand-new season of Minnesota Experience coming in 2024.
Our great programming would not be possible without your support. I hope our April lineup inspires you to get outdoors and explore something new.
Sincerely,
Sylvia Strobel President and CEO, Twin Cities PBS
