future of healthcare. Lack of education and awareness creates a bridge of uncer- tainty and trust for patients when aches and pains finally become unbearable, social media and home remedies are no longer giving any relief, and the pushed aside visit to the doctors creeps closer and closer. The need for patient facing professionals to become more understanding, confident, and most importantly “ credible ” when engaging diverse, minority, and underserved populations in their healthcare, and recruiting them into clinical trials, is how companies like Genesis Medical Research Group came to existence. By providing a diversity cer- tification for professionals to gain these much needed “ additions ” to their re- sumes to give an edge in the ever changing healthcare industry, it makes the sites that employ these professionals more appealing to sponsors needing them for clinical trials.
By seeing this prob- lem from a goal - oriented perspec- tive, it allows us to see far past the agendas and under- standings that our government is facing at the present time. DEI is a specific per- spective with an
even broader and direct meaning that is beyond the current agenda under attack, and that is Equity ……………. for All. Equity is about understanding that even though changing times have allowed more opportunities for African Americans and all minorities to advance and elevate, it doesn ’ t negate or remove all of the hurdles and obstacles in their path to reach the same goals and levels of success that our counterparts do not face. Equity is understanding that merely removing obstacles also doesn ’ t take away from the education and wisdom needed to build the bridge back up from the gap that has existed for decades. Equity is un- derstanding that the socioeconomic disparities that minority communities have experienced are a hindrance in understanding the current and future advance- ments the healthcare has made, and is another reason a diversity certification is needed for professionals to have more empathy and understanding with pa- tients when engaging and educating patients on their healthcare. Equity is about more than just being invited to the table, but also being given a menu, fork, spoon, knife, and water already at our seat before we sit down.
