Courses to accelerate your legal career.

The route to becoming a solicitor is changing.

Becoming a solicitor Once you’ve completed your law degree or conversion course, we’ll provide you with the preparation to secure a training contact and start your career in professional practice. Taught through simulated client portfolios, you’ll develop in-depth legal knowledge, commercial awareness and practical skills.

Converting to law If you’re a non-law graduate, our law conversion courses are your first step to becoming a solicitor or barrister. You’ll gain the fundamental legal knowledge and professional skills you need to progress onto further training.

Our new Law Conversion Course (PGDL) has been designed following extensive research with law firms and aspiring law students. Upon completion, you’ll have the option to progress onto the LPC, or undertake one of our SQE preparation courses. * However, in the meantime, the GDL and LPC route remains valid and highly regarded by legal employers. We’re introducing new courses to prepare students for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), an assessment that all aspiring solicitors will soon be required to pass. The changes are being implemented by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), with the first SQE assessment scheduled to be available from Autumn 2021 at the earliest.

Future Finance loans Funding is also available via Future Finance student loans, where you can borrow between £2,500 and £40,000 to pay tuition fees and living expenses for higher education in the UK. * For more information, visit bpp.com/study/funding

Postgraduate loans Taught at Master’s degree level, our LLM courses will help you to develop the advanced legal knowledge and professional skills that employers demand. They are also eligible for a postgraduate loan up to £10,906, to help with course fees and living costs.

The loan is paid directly to you after you have registered onto your course. You will be paid in three instalments throughout the year. Postgraduate funding can only be used to fund one course, so if you have any queries about how to fund your studies, please ask your Admissions Officer.

Which legal training courses are eligible for postgraduate loan funding?

Starting before September 2020? Our LLM [Law Conversion] is an alternative to the GDL , designed to prepare you for the next stage of legal training to become a solicitor or barrister. Starting after September 2020? Our Law Conversion Course (PGDL) gives you the option to graduate with an LLM Law and Practice , by completing an additional professional research project. Our LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors) incorporates our Legal Practice Course (LPC) , giving you the essential training you need to become a qualified solicitor. Our Barrister Training Course (BTC) + gives you the option to graduate with an LLM Legal Practice (Bar Route) , by completing an additional professional research project.
