March 2024 Newsletter MAAGAZIN
Dear MAAG Americas Team:
I am more than happy with the performance you have shown in those first two months and thank you very much for all your hard work and contributions! February was another strong shipping month across the Americas, and we are well on the way to meet our targets for the first quarter of the year. We conducted the 2 nd round of listening sessions in Eagle Rock in the middle of February and will have sessions in Kent and Charlotte by the middle of March. The feedback we receive is greatly appreciated and you will start seeing actions related to that feedback in the coming weeks. The management team will work out action plans and we are looking forward to everyone’s contribution to make MAAG Americas not only the most efficient company within the Group, but also a great place to work for all of us! To improve the work environment, we will continue to invest in smaller projects around our facilities. Eagle Rock has finished the renovation of the central office area with other projects on the way and you will also see projects in our Kent and Charlotte facilities. With these improvements we hope that you feel excited to come to work and do your part to make 2024 a successful year!
After all, it’s you that makes the difference!

Hobbies
Dungeons And Dragons Oh My! - Angel White
Angel White works in Eagle Rock’s Warehouse team. Her hobby is playing Dungeons and Dragons. Learning more about this hobby, Angel describes her character as one who currently lives in a tower after this character saved the town. The characters are unique, such as a wizard. The most common character in the game is called a mimic, which can turn into anything. Angel stated characters are interesting because they are very different in what they can do. Angel started playing Dungeons and Dragons because of the creative imagination of other players. She loves the various scenarios, worlds, and missions that the game offers. Angel mentioned that people even dress up for the game. What is Dungeons and Dragons? It is a tabletop role-playing game where players create their characters and write the description and player handbook. The characters are customized through various characteristics, skills, strengths, and abilities.
Angel’s current game group consists of six players, including the Dungeon Master who creates and controls the game while it is being played. There is not an end goal, however the main point of the game is to gain experience and level up your character over time. The group typically plays for 5-7 hours once a month.
The game uses miniatures to stand for characters, and they can be purchased or individually crafted. The Dungeon Master creates the maps for the game or uses pre-made modules available online. The miniatures are the physical representations of the characters on the board and can also be used to stand for other items, such as buildings. In the game, players can be anything they wish, but the outcome is decided by rolling the dice.
Angel enjoys talking about this unique hobby and is happy to explain further upon request. Thank you, Angel, for sharing this interesting hobby.

Keith Knott's (Kent Field Service Technician) dog Loki is a 13-year-old chihuahua dachshund mix (chiweenie). He is a happy boy that will give you the sweetest aroooo roo roo when he meets you. He doesn’t like kitties very much at all, but he loves chasing his ball and going everywhere with his family. If he sees you packing, he will jump in his backpack, so you don't forget him.
Corned Beef and Cabbage • 1 corned beef brisket (about 4 pounds) with spice packet • 2 tablespoons brown sugar • 2 bay leaves • 3-1/2 pounds small potatoes (10-15), peeled • 8 medium carrots, halved crosswise • 1 medium head cabbage, cut into wedges • 1 tablespoon sugar • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar • ¼ peeled freshly grated horseradish Directions 1. Place brisket, contents of seasoning packet, brown sugar and bay leaves in a large Dutch oven or stockpot; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 2 hours. 2. Add potatoes and carrots; return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, just until beef and vegetables are tender, 30-40 minutes. (If pot is full, remove potatoes and carrots before adding cabbage; reheat before serving.) 3. Add cabbage to pot; return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until cabbage is tender, about 15 minutes. Remove vegetables and corned beef; keep warm. 4. If desired, for horseradish sauce, strain and reserve 1- 1/2 cups cooking juices; skim fat from reserved juices. Discard remaining juices. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; stir in flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in 1 cup reserved juices. Stir in sugar, vinegar and horseradish; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook and stir until thickened.
5. Cut beef across the grain into slices. Serve with vegetables and sauce.
